Most Iconic Album Of Your Lifetime

Iconic? Not necessarily best? Then it has to be:

Frampton Comes Alive

This is always a tough topic because so many anchor memories and feelings...not iconic (which is a different list) so much as important in my life during a time...kind of the second part of the op...

among others mentioned here...

  • Little Feat- Dixie Chicken
  • Deep Purple - Machine Head
  • Led Zeppelin - like the Beatles, hard to pick one that wasn't there for me
  • Marshall Tucker - Running like the wind
  • Talking Heads - Fear of Music
  • Roxy Music - Avalon
  • Neil Young - Harvest, Time Fades Away, On the Beach, others...

That's a start, anyway

This is an excellent list. On The Beach is criminally underrated, btw!! :)

Fisherman's Box - The Waterboys. Everyone should listen to this album, a true masterpiece

toss up between pink floyd dark side of the moon and the clash london calling.

I know the the title of this thread is stupid and redundant, but still...

Not that I disagree generally with selections.

Iconic is never best, and seldom favourite, and thats one band..

I'm going with Hi Fi Way, and its probably in the low end of my top 100.

You Am I, just to, blah.

Which musician or album had a profound affect on your life?

For me it was; Dr.Dre - The Chronic.

A cRapper? Seriously?

I'll go along with Wakeman's Journey or Six Wives, maybe The Who's Tommy. I can think of a few others.

cRap belongs in the toilet.

Dark Side would be on there too. One of the longest runs on the top selling lists.

One song that got me interested in looking to other areas was 'Back On The Chain Gang' by The Pretenders.

Dark side was 6 years before me, and 9 years after me.

Do I love it, yes, but Iconic means is in this, what everyone else knew when you're thinking about.

Thant album was top 40 for 26 years, so, literally families had to know of it in the top 40 withough even buying it.

Hence my rant.

For me, would be Century Collapsing. And maybe 3 people whould know that is by here.

I had to YouTube Effigy. So wish I hadn't bothered.

Chrissy Hinde was/is fantastic
Personally I think oranges are oranger than carrots 😉

Oh wow.. That's a hard one. So many great albums to choose but I would have to go with Bleach by Nirvana. That was the album that first got me into music :)

I'm amazed you found anything. Doesnt make it any less.

The first album that I really fell in love with was The Great Buritto Extortion Case by Bowling For Soup. Fortunately the name has no bearing on how good the music is.

Eagles "Live 80" Styx "Paradise Theater"

Fathers & Sons; Super Cosmic Joy-Scout Jamboree, 1969
Alman Brothers, Filmore East 1970
Disraeli Gears, Cream, 1967

I would say The Clash: London Calling was the game changer for me.
Closely followed by Siouxsie & the Banshees: Once Upon a Time (The Singles),
and X-Ray Spex: Germfree Adolescents.
