My Favorite Quotes

"Many of us waste time on petty worries or frivolities,
but those who know the value of how limited time is
seem to cherish every moment they have as a gift."

~ Shadonna Richards, R.N.

When i am attacked by gloomy thoughts,

nothing helps me so much as running to my books,

they quickly absorb me and banish the clouds from my mind

You wondered how you’d make it through.
I wondered what was wrong with you.
Because how could you give your love to someone else, yet share your dreams with me?
Sometimes the only thing you’re looking for, is the one thing you can’t see.

.

Love never dies a natural death.

It dies because we don't know how to replenish its source.

It dies of blindness and errors and betrayals.

It dies of illness and wounds;

it dies of weariness, of withering, of tarnishing.

Such an amazing Poem by Maya Angelou

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies
I'm not cute or built to suit a model's fashion size
But when I start to tell them
They think I'm telling lies.
I say
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips
The stride of my steps
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please
And to a man
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees
Then they swarm around me
A hive of honey bees.
I say
It's the fire in my eyes
And the flash of my teeth
The swing of my waist
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say
It's in the arch of my back
The sun of my smile
The ride of my breasts
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say
It's in the click of my heels
The bend of my hair
The palm of my hand
The need for my care.
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally
Phenomenal woman
That's me.

Now, until the break of day,
Through this house each fairy stray.
To the best bride-bed will we,
Which by us shall blessed be;
And the issue there create
Ever shall be fortunate.
So shall all the couples three
Ever true in loving be;
And the blots of Nature's hand
Shall not in their issue stand;
Never mole, hare lip, nor scar,
Nor mark prodigious, such as are
Despised in nativity,
Shall upon their children be.
With this field-dew consecrate,
Every fairy take his gait;
And each several chamber bless,
Through this palace, with sweet peace;
And the owner of it blest
Ever shall in safety rest.
Trip away; make no stay;
Meet me all by break of day.

~ William Shakespeare - A Midsummer Night's Dream - Act V, Scene I

Well, there's this passage I got memorized.
Ezekiel 25:17:
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides
by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.
Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will,
shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness.
For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children.
And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger
those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers.
And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

I've been sayin' that shit for years.
And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass.
I never gave much thought what it meant.
I just thought it was some cold-blooded shit
to say to a motherfucker before I popped a cap in his ass.
I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice.
See, now I'm thinkin', maybe it means you're the evil man.
And I'm the righteous man. And Mr. 9 Milimeter here,
he's the shepherd protecting my righteous ass in the valley of darkness.
Or, it could mean you're the righteous man and I'm the shepherd
and it's the world that's evil and selfish. Now, I'd like that.
But that shit ain't the truth.
The truth is you're the weak.
And I'm the tyranny of evil men.
But I'm tryin', Ringo.
I'm tryin' real hard
to be the shepherd.

~ Jules Winnfield (Quentin Tarantino)

Teamwork requires the emotion of trust. It happens when committed individuals come together; then become individuals committed to being a team.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt within the heart.
- Helen Keller

It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but even more to stand up to your friends.
- J.K. Rowling

Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world there are only individuals.
