About porn industry

To begin with, let me introduce myself. I am from China, the mainland, not Taiwan or Hong Kong or Macao. Our country doesn't have porn industry or legal one. So I have to look outside the country like on the internet to know what happens in this sector.

For example, an Italian guy Rocco Siffredi is very impressive when he tells the press that he XXXs with almost 3k women in his career so far and that he never takes any tonics or drugs to get the work done.

Another example is an UK oldie, Jim Slip, with his bitchy (perhaps it is not the proper word, but my vocabulary is limited) wife, opens two separate (or more) websites offering paid viewing of his or her fuckings with girls or men randomly made available in the streets.

I just wonder how this couplings could be made happen? Do they need to sign any agreement to the effect that the male player cannot impregnate the female during the acting or who will take the responsibility if there is any accident.

Thank you for your sharing of any interesting information in this regard. Happy New Year to you!

Simple math can help with answers. For Rocco Siffredi to have relationship with 3k women in his career, you can break that down as follows: 3000 women divided by 30 days to the typical month = 100 months. 100 months divided by 12 months to a year = 8.33 years. Now, perhaps he has had sex with more than one woman a day, which would change those numbers. Is is possible? Surely it is. Choose to believe as you wish. Can he do it without drugs? Sure. I can enjoy at least one orgasm a day every day, can't you?

Women in the porn industry are responsible for managing their birth control. If an unwanted pregnancy takes place, that would also be their responsibility to manage. It is a risk of the industry one accepts when they start.

Many of the websites advertising amateur performers or streetside pick-ups are telling a fiction more than telling the truth. There is a large marketplace for amateur performers. In general, accept the idea of someone being an amateur or a street pickup with a grain of salt.

As for people appearing in Jim Slip videos, you can be assured those people have been pre-screened, tested for STDs, and have signed a release form. More than likely, they were also paid for their performance.

Like any sex workers, the vast majority of porn performers understand their risks and take many precautions to protect themselves. Some refuse to participate in risky activities. Most porn shoots require performers to be have a current test of STDs. Performers who engage in a lot of risky, off-camera sex are shunned. If you are making your money having sex with others, then you do what you can to protect yourself so you can continue to make money. It's just that simple.

I hope that helps!

@BuckyDuckman Thank you for your long answer, which is very helpful and insightful. I also believe that what appears before the camera is something that has been rehearsed many times earlier.

But i have a question about morality. As in the case of Rocco Siffredi, he has his own family and two sons are growing. What will his sons react to their father's way of making a living? How will their schoolmates react to such things? Since his father is so promiscuous and can have sex with any woman near him, if the mistresses or female teachers of his children know it, what will they think of it? Isn't it a physical risk of being harassed or raped when they want to talk to the parent face to face along in the office about the perfomance of the children?

In the case of Jim Slip, I also notice that the assistant who helps to shoot the film is none other than his legal wife (They must hold the license to be man and wife). It is very ridiculous in the eyes of a normal person. Women are jealous. A lot of news can be found in which the legal wife of some man tries to kill or humiliate the other sexual partner of her legal husband.

The majority of the performers are professionals. Watching behind the scene videos reveals a lot. The director will often work-out with the performers the type of activity they want to film.

As for morality, that's rather funny. What is morality? Who defines what is appropriate or not appropriate? I believe your imagination is working overtime and you're applying a narrow set of values to a group of people who do not share your values.

What of the child of a woman who is known to be promiscuous? What of the child of the man who is known to beat animals? What of the child of the woman who has a drinking problem?

Simply because someone is a performer in adult movies doesn't mean they can't be a kind parent, an avid reader, and a large supporter of charity. If someone was a soldier, would that make you afraid to be in a room with them because they have trained to kill? If so, I would suggest you don't know many soldiers.

Clearly Jim Slip and his wife have found a bound between them that isn't measured by physical faithfulness. Suggesting that "women are jealous" says much more about your opinion concerning women than it does about Jim Slip's relationship with his wife.

The ability of Jim Slip and his wife to bring each other love, joy, and spiritual support clearly doesn't include where Jim chooses to stick his dick. Open your heart and your mind shall follow!

Two words: mainland China. Given the cultural history, it's unlikely opinions are going to align.

Being a porn star doesn't mean he has sex with every woman he meets. It might work that way in the movies, but it's unlikely that it happens in the rest of his life.

And being "promiscuous" doesn't make anybody a harasser or a rapist. Some people in the porn industry are sexual predators, I have no idea whether Rocco Siffredi is one of those. But there are plenty of people who are "promiscuous" only with willing partners.

In the case of Jim Slip, I also notice that the assistant who helps to shoot the film is none other than his legal wife (They must hold the license to be man and wife). In the West and I think also in China, there's a strong social tradition that teaches men and women that they should expect monogamy and get jealous if that isn't met. But not everybody feels that way.

I've been with my partner for almost twenty years. During that time each of us has had several other lovers - I don't need her to be monogamous and she doesn't need me to be monogamous. Many of my friends have similar relationships. (And yes, we're very careful about STD prevention.)

It's not always simple, because all relationships take work, and sometimes we have to make choices about things like time conflicts. But we don't get jealous just because our partner is sleeping with somebody else.

If you read information about "open relationships" or "polyamory" you'll find out more about these sort of relationships.

In the east, the conservative people are not supposed to be seeking too much pleasure, especially when such pleasure comes from bodies of women. As you may know, sex is not a topic to be discussed in public or simply a taboo, so porn industry is nonexistent. I have to admit there is a cultural shock when I for the first time to know people would choose acting out sex in front of camera as their career and they are not afraid of being judged by neighbors or friends. And by the way, if anyone could explain the word "judge" in your daily life, that is, why do people not like others to judge them, it would be much appreciated.

I know there are many immigrants from China living now in the US, and it takes a long time for them to get used to such way of life, in which porn is acceptable as food.

I would not say porn is as acceptable as food. Erotica is available for those who choose to seek it out. If you were to walk into a sex shop (commonly referred to as an Adult Bookstore in the states), you would probably experience sensory overload with sheer amount of sexually explicit videos and toys on display. However, if you were to drive by that same shop, you would find nothing offensive.

The same is true with our less regulated internet access. Yes, you can find a site like this one, filled with sexually explicit stories, but you have to go and look for it. You won't find advertisements for erotic sites on TV or inside mainstream magazines. Adult magazines are typically displayed on a top row or behind a counter and typically with a modesty shield in front of it. Is it available? Certainly. Is it publicly displayed? Hardly.

As for your bigger question, "Why do people not like others to judge them?" Why would people WANT that? It's called freedom, my friend. In the west, in general, you're free to express yourself openly.

Are people judged? Certainly they are. However, I believe the West may have a higher level of tolerance for diversity. Furthermore, I think we understand that protecting your diversity (even if we don't agree with your choices) is paramount to protecting OUR choices. We celebrate diversity as a strength. To judge suggests "to reject." Rejecting things we may not fully understand or appreciate weakens personal and spiritual growth.

Thank you very much for your information.

You know, we from another culture have difficulty to know people of other cultures. Like me, a lover of English language and literature, I get the information that I believe is authentic most from the textbooks I read or literary works or TV dramas. Sometimes we have the chance to talk face to face with friends from other countries, but we can hardly go to the depth or touch something interesting or sensitive. And when we meet with the points that we do not understand, we turn to dicitionaries or translation or subtitltes of TV scenes, but due to the culture difference, the truth cannot be fully converyed. That is why I look stupid in the eyes of many of you. But it is good to hear the truth from you, though it takes time to digest it.

Being unaware of another's culture does not make one stupid, merely misinformed. Drawing broad conclusions from a small data base can make those conclusions inaccurate. We all see things through the filter of our own eyes based upon our past experiences. The more we see, the more we can understand and appreciate.

I'm not personally familiar with Chinese culture, so I'm going from what I've been told by others here. Everything I'm about to say is a very big generalisation and there are important exceptions!

As I understand it, Chinese culture (and many other Asian cultures) puts a lot of importance on family and community. People are encouraged to think of themselves as part of a team and learn the team's way of doing things.

Compared to China, Western culture (especially USA) puts more importance on individual freedoms and privacy. Even when we do need to work together as a team, we're encouraged to be different to other team members, as long as it doesn't hurt the team.

For example, in a US police movie, the hero will be a guy who doesn't fit in with his team and doesn't follow their rules. In the end he'll solve the case and stop the criminals - the message is that it's good to be different.

I think in a Chinese movie the hero would more often be a guy who respects the team's way of doing things and solves the case by using the proper methods?

So in Western culture many of us believe that people's private lives are their own business. If I want to have sex with a man, or a woman, or even both at once, nobody else has the right to intervene unless it's affecting other people. In this way of thinking, it's very bad manners to make judgements about things that aren't our business.

(Not everybody agrees with this idea! The politics is very complicated. But I think this idea is stronger in the West than it is in China.)

But we are purposefully separated from the world by the firewall set up by the government, which is different from people of the free world where they can get free access to any information they want. Many people in China now pity the situation of North Korea, but they do not know that many years ago their fathers lived a more miserable life than the North Koreans.

You are right. Individualism is not the mainstream of Chinese or eastern cultures. But exception could often work wonders, like Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, who makes great success after he learns English and changes himself from a college teacher into a businessman.
Porn is taboo in China, but since Confucius told us many years ago, that food and sex are human natures, i believe that one day porn which is a combination of human nature and arts and science will produce its proper effect on the progress of Chinese people. And you know, there had been great erotica literary works existing in ancient China, they were banned by the authorities though. That hinted that Chinese people did have the desire to explore the world sexually.

Do you happen to know a girl Stoya, whose pictures I will attach for your reference? Her father when searching online for porn, was embarrassed to find here and there no other girls are nicer than his own daughter.

It might be something close to incest, but he only wanked to the video or pictures of his daughter. I can hardly imagine what it will be like to my conservative fellow country people.

what is the reason behind the change

A striking difference of the looks of pussies of Asians and those of the West is the former have thick and dense hairs, which turn off many visitors from the West when they try to enjoy themselves in Bangkok, Hong Kong,Tokyo or Taipei.

But I notice that Asian women are not alone in preserving their furs, the Westerners also did the same back in 1960s-1980s, as far as the materials I have at hand are concerned.

What is the reason behind the change from hairy pussies to the bald ones? Can anybody share his or her view?

Environment and personal taste. Below the hair style is highly dependent on where one lives and the time period. During the Renaissance, Mediterranean art depicts no pubic hair on women whereas during the same period in the northern Europe, art showed women with luscious pubic hair.

There is a theory that spread that in the late 80s and early 90s, strippers and porn actors, due to the spread of STIs, began to trim their pubic hair to prevent the spread. Along with fashion and public tastes, minimal to no pubic hair became the norm in the West. Another theory is that no or minimal pubic hair looks younger, and this is a culture that glorifies youth.

But if you want something aside from a historical anthropological look, can't help you there. :)

Noting that this is more about things like pubic lice/crabs; I don't think it's any help against the nastier infections.

While women in porn seem to be about 95%? shaved these days, real life is different; I think I've only ever had one partner who was shaved.

First off, there are many westerners (at least in the United States) who prefer the appearance of an Asian woman, including their sparser, straighter pubic hair. Since we live in a diverse society among people with lots of different ethnic backgrounds, it's easy to find people who prefer lots of different variations. Some prefer redheads over blondes. For others, blonde haired women are preferred. There are men who are into BBW (Big Beautiful Women) or women with big tits or even women with very small breasts.

As for porn stars shaving down there? Porn has always been about pushing boundaries. Shaving allows a more intimate, explicit view of a woman's pussy. Some of it is a fashion statement, too. Women were trimming, grooming, and reshaping their pubic areas before they began shaving. Within the porn industry, there's another, more practical reason: hair can become abrasive for both the man and the woman.

Much of the porn industry is driven by popularity. If a woman thinks she can get more jobs by shaving, she's going to shave. Same with what acts they are willing to perform. During the time period mentioned, the biggest taboo was anal sex. Few A-List porn stars would do anal in the 80's, but that began changing in the 90's as audiences voted with their dollars and more porn stars began doing anal.

Like so many things, it's as much economics that drive choices.

I noticed that in Asia the places where porn industry is thriving are Japan in the north and Thailand in the south respectively, and that the potential of China with its huge population remains untapped.

Why does Japan, a country of island, show so much enthusiasm in porn and how does it make it possible to have such a booming industry in such a cold climate are a question of interest.

And Thailand, a country of Buddhism where people are supposed to be conservative in lifestyle, is famous for its wild nightlife in the capital Bangkok. The contradiction provides us with more food for thought.

I don't know what role porn industry plays in the Gross Domestic Products of developed countries like the US or the UK and how much it contributes to the national welfare.

I don't know that we need to consider this as serious as "thirst for truth" and so maybe it deserves a lighter tone than is being permitted..
if anything, porn is the absence of truth

I can't comment on Thailand. What little I know of Japanese culture is that it evolved mechanisms allowing very many people to live together in a very small area. The native faith was apparently not sexually repressive; that could be one such survival adaptation. Japanese society seems to have many other social constraints. Porn probably represents a safety valve.

I also know little of Chinese culture but I suspect the government has used sexual repression as a tool to control the populace, similar to Western faiths equating sex with sin. We have a saying: "Get'em by the balls, and their hearts and minds will follow." People torn by guilt, fear, and anxiety are easily dictated to.

Political and social conservatism are not necessarily paired. Rupert Murdoch is a major media figure in the Anglophone world. His publications and networks are politically very conservative -- and often feature sexual images and pandering. Why? To grab eyeballs; to gain attention and influence. I can envisage a 'conservative' Murdochian regime that pushes sex and drugs in exchange for tight political bounds and limited personal rights. That's the old Roman "bread and circuses" approach to social control.

Your question about the national economics of porn is interesting. The US, UK, EU, and Japanese economies are too huge for porn to be much more than a flyspeck in the total picture. I'll guess that the entire porn industry in almost any country annually accounts for less than the cost of running their military for a couple hours. Thailand may be a different matter.

UPDATE: I'm doing some online research and finding hot sites. The Economics of the Global Entertainment Industry puts the 2009 global porn budget at about US$97 billion and prostitution at US$400 billion. Statista says the global 2009 GDP was about US$59 trillion. Yes, porn and prostitution worldwide are a very small fraction. Wikipedia says "Around 2009, the U.S. porn industry's revenue of $10–15 billion a year was more than the combined revenue of professional sports and live music combined and roughly on par or above Hollywood's box office revenue." The World Bank says USA 2009 GDP was about US$14.4 trillion. That makes porn AT MOST 1/10 of 1% of the USA GDP.

If I had more time, I'd check the numbers for Thailand. Maybe someone here will volunteer. :D

Recently, I found a video about the famous nude model of Czech Republic Eufrat(she has many names if you often visit porn sites you know that), who paid a visit to a sex toy factory in Europe, where a toy named Fleshlight(you guys in the West must know it very well) was made modeled on her very genitalia.

The content of the video is adult, and shows me the scope of porn industry. I also know that in fact many such products are made in China, though it may not be available in China, or just so in black market.

Well, I agree that Eufrat has a very nice pussy from its look. But in the video when she asked her escort, who is the manager of the company,if he had tried that toy himself, it was embarrassing to the guy and very shocking to me! Then there came many fans in the factory who posed for pictures with that nude model, but regrettably with clothes on, what a shame!
