I've seen the Pacific few times, never swam in it though. My one aunt and uncle and grandmother used to live in La Mirada, another uncle and aunt lived in Long Beach and yet another aunt and uncle lived in San Diego. I used to visit them summers when I was growing up. Plane travel was a whole lot different then. :D

Oh yeah, Mom Nature reclaims her own pretty quickly. i still maintain my own property, but now I have a guy mow my lawn and edge the walks and driveway. I'm gettin' too old for that shit. ;)

This place kind of seems like a graveyard now, compared to how it used to be when the old hand was here. There were usually conversations just flying. I suppose everybody is on Facebook now.

It'd be nice to have a live in person reunion. I joined just after the last one, and, though I've met some Litsters in person, I think we'd enjoy a random gathering of smutscribes.

But air fare over the Atlantic can be a touch expensive.

I know, HP, but I will be in Sicily next month anyway. We could all get together for a really hot time at Mt. Etna. (Definitely not as cold as that tit-less glacier in Switzerland ;) ). No more conference funding for me - the pains of retirement: not even for an Emeritus, not even if he's presenting a paper.:(

And, until the medical specialists decide what is wrong with me, I can't drive, I can't travel on any form of public transport, and my wife's limit for driving my Volvos is 100 miles. That gets us halfway around the M25...

Nice to see that so many of the AH stalwarts are still around! (For years now, I’ve been so tied up with family issues that I didn’t have time to browse, so I only subscribe to a very few threads.)
