Frank sat through the Wedding meal, speeches, which were in the main quite funny. The obligatory funny story about Carl at Fresher’s Week at University, being secured to a lamppost with a roll of clingfilm, when drunk, and found in the early hours by two female Police Officers, and having to talk his way out of an arrest, was quite amusing and a story Frank didn't know about until then.
Claire started to look quite bored which was unlike her. She was usually so attentive, and although she was happy to smile dutifully, she lingered just long enough to see Carl start to do some serious drinking with his friends.
Her family is quite small, and her parents and aunts and uncles were obviously catching up, from time apart over the years, and had momentarily forgotten Claire.
Frank wanted to go over and remind Carl that it is his Wedding Night, and he would do well not to desert his Bride, but then, he figures, Carl is a grown man and should take the consequences of his actions.
Frank knows for sure, that if he were Claire, Carl would be getting both barrels in the morning!
He saw her leave to freshen up. One of the bridesmaids went to follow her to assist, Frank guessed, but Claire seemed to (judging by her body-language) say that she just wanted some air.
Frank left the room, under the premise of having to use the toilet. He saw Claire dart into the small annexe room, and waited for the coast to become clear.
He strode quickly across the corridor and tapped on the door.
“Claire-it’s Frank!” He said with his head close to the door.
“Claire!” He hissed. “Are you alright?”
