Idaho has lost 51 obstetricians since near-total abortion ban came into effect in '22
More than 50 Idaho obstetricians have stopped practicing in the state since a near-total abortion ban took effect in August 2022, according to a newly released report.

Data compiled by the Idaho Physician Well-Being Action Collaborative also shows that only two obstetricians moved to the state to practice in the last 15 months, the Idaho Statesman reported on Tuesday. Obstetricians provide health care during pregnancy and childbirth.

The number of obstetricians in Idaho decreased from 227 in 2022 to about 176 in 2023, a decline of 51 doctors, the report said. The Idaho Physician Well-Being Action Collaborative was created in 2018 by local doctors to address problems affecting physicians and patients in Idaho communities, according to its website.
so almost a quarter of its obs... which means those most in need of the care are less likely to be able to receive it, with the shut down of hospital obstetrics programs being a reality, 2 already closed, a third in real danger.

If you think a fertilized egg is a human being then you should support banning all abortion, not make an exception for the first few weeks of pregnancy. Personally, I follow scripture. Human life begins when the newborn draws its first breath. Until then, it's the woman's choice.
Please, if you will tell me what scripture states this...?

The forced covid vaccination of hospital staff didn't help the situation as well..... you know the "my body, my choice" thing

no, because the negligence of stupid staff who thought that their risking spreading a terrible and novel virus in hospital settings where, as is to be expected, patients are incredibly vulnerable seemed like a good hill to die on (sometimes literally). Hospital staff should be far more up on the science (and their patients' wellbeing) instead of placing conspiracy theories, disinformation and pie in the fucking sky religious notions first.

the whole concept of 'my body, my choice' extends as far as you not compromising the health of another person, such as in the smoking bans and drink/drugs driving bans. While a fetus remains inside the woman's body, it is totally dependent on her body to construct and feed and oxygenate it. Her body should take priority as a standard, unless SHE chooses to place the fetus before herself. It's often been a case of a woman whom, when given the choice of saving her own life or the pregnancy she's delivering will place the fetus' life before her own. Women who opt not to do so will have a plethora of reasons, the least not wanting to die themselves.

i'm not religious and i don't see why some people's investment in stories intended to comfort and help them accept life's struggles should take precedent over medical science in any scenario involving, well, medical science.

Well said.

But how disappointing / frustrating that it had to be said AGAIN.

🤬

JFC

SAD!!!

Which means you fully support a women's right to do things like meth/drugs, drink alcohol, etc while pregnant, right?

Please, if you will tell me what scripture states this?
Are you a Christian? I’m going to assume yes. Let me apologize now, as a nonbeliever, my embarrassment in having to explain to you your own biblical scripture. You may have missed it in your readings because it’s deep into the Bible before you see it. You have to open all the way to, ya know, Genesis. Here is the verse:

Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. (Genesis 2:7)

The verse you quoted is describing the biblical god creating the first man from dust.

How exactly are you confusing that with women gestating and birthing babies?
How the hell would I know? I’m just showing you what your book says. Debate this and talking snakes and floods with a believer. Buffalogurl is right here. If you don’t follow the literal text of the book then get on those who do and are using it to impose religious ideology on others.

Goddamn! I can’t understand why religious folks get mad at a nonbeliever for pointing out THEIR hypocrisy.

Also, even before ANYONE enters a religious debate here with a so called Christian whether it be you, BG, or kinked a bit - you need to explain wtf you are doing here? On a sex site. Are you guys holding a Bible study thread somewhere I’m not seeing? I’ve not heard a one of yalls telling me to convert or repent. I’m asking this out of concern. I really would hate for the rapture to start while you’re here chatting it up with me. Well, at least Jesus will be spared seeing your tiny dick pics. Me? If he actually comes, my first question will be why was his mother creator so cruel to your anatomy.

How the hell would I know?
Then WTF did you bring it up? 🤣
I’m just showing you what your book says.
My book? 🤣🤣

You posted some bible verse and then claimed it said something it didn't say. Doesn't take a believer to point that out. 🤣

I'm a christian or religous now? 🤣🤣

You expect me, a hardcore atheist, to tell you to convert or repent? 🤣🤣

Maybe you should try not making absolutely dumbass assumptions. 🤣🤣
What any religion says about it is irrelevant except to the practitioner of that religion.
Completely agree there.

Locut to the chase. Are you religious? Do you identify as Christian?

It’s cool and I won’t feel insulted if you exit the discussion now.

Try actually reading. 🤣🤣
In my past interactions with you, I’ve found you to be an unworthy debater and recall your posting side by side stating the same things as kinkedabit. I give my apologies to you for I’ve honestly mistaken you for kinkedabit, who is a Christian.

Again, my sincere apologies to you. I should have read and comprehended your previous posts. I just did and now have.

You’re really just trying to rile BSG and Adrina and I should not have commented to get in your way.

As a fellow atheist, I will look on the current Alabama court decision thread for your thoughts and comments on that.

You've pegged him correctly - he's a classic right-fringe sealioner.

If he tries to categorize himself in a way that makes it look like you've rushed to judgement, he's lying. It's a key part of the playbook. 😎

Although this is true, I honestly did mistake him for kinked and did not fully comprehend his previous post. He deserves my apology.

In the end, I know that I have a more stable stance on abortion and where my vote will go. I know from polling that many conservatives are opposed to their state imposing restrictions - Kansas and Ohio. I’m sadly proud of Democratic wins post Roe. But you and I fully know that concerned conservatives and independents are always waiting for that ‘but her emails’ moment to again rationalize voting for an anti-abortion Republican promising to lower their taxes.

So I just read through the Alabama court thread. And to his credit, in his very first post, TST seemingly disagrees with the ruling. Yay! 🙌
Unfortunately, instead of talking more on why he thinks the ruling is bad, he proceeds to wax poetic about other posters suffering from TDS. 🙄

If you read the thread, then you know I didn't bring up Trump whatsoever, I only responded to others who did, and then I finally just ignored further replies on the issue since it was off topic.

Great! Come November I’m glad I can count on your straight Democratic ticket vote to ensure the reproductive rights and body autonomy of women throughout America.
