((( investor ))) I am so thrilled at the following the Music Lounge gets. I do get PM's from LIT members, mainly The Playground forum who comment obviously in private and also do often request music. I use these comments to guide the kind of music linked on the thread. I do have my own favourites of course, jazz being one and chart music being the other main favourite, but my likes in music are also eclectic I have learned so much about the 50's 60's 70's and 80's music scene, the roots of blues and jazz music in particular as well as rock.Sienna, thank you for finding the "international" link for "Independence Day" . . . I saw the author of that song, Gretchen Peters, in a small venue concert a while back, and she related how she felt the song was a little "dark", controversial, and wasn't sure it would be recorded. But a young and "up and coming" singer wanted to record it, and it became the song of the year in country music in 1995.
You have been generous in posting the variety of "Lounge Music" numbers that allow us followers to expand their music horizons . . . but how about a few of YOUR favorite jazz pieces!
investor my love, thank you for those links. I only remember the Thelma Houston remix of Don't Leave Me This way. I knew there had to be an original and at the time in the music fraternity I was part of, I was told that the remix was obviously Thelma Houston some years previous. I never knew the Harold Melvin version ever existed until you linked itOne of the interesting things in music is how a cover song can become more popular than the original . . . or a remix many years later may still hit the top 40 charts . . . I guess you can't keep a good dance song down!
