I'm sure most here don't write under their real names. How did you devise your username?

Mine: "Woodman" is for "wood man" as in the guy in a porn video who has an erection.
"Stark" references two other pen names: Richard Stark, the name used by Donald E Westlake to write his "Parker" series, and "George Stark" the alter ego of the writer in The Dark Half by Stephen King (explicitly stated in the text as inspired by Westlake/Stark.)

My wife signed me up to push me to publish my stories. I'm a big HP Lovecraft fan and of course she felt compelled to stick the year I was born in there:rolleyes:

I don't remember how I came up with the name. It's random. Originally I was thinking of using it as the name for a character in a story I was working on. But when I signed up here at Literotica and decided to start writing I decided to use the name as my pseudonym.

Dark Half is my second favorite King novel(behind Pet Sematary) its criminally under rated.

I think Abba happened to be playing randomly at the time and I think they're talented and of course the two lead singers very hot, so I guess it made sense at the time.

My rabbit was named Biscuit Hammer, and that sounds like an erotic author name to me if there ever was one.

I had been reading online erotica for a while. Eventually I discovered the Lit forum and the nude picture section. To access, you need an account. So I just made up 'heyall' to see the amature pic section.

About two years later or so, I had an interest in writing my own erotic stories and remembered that I had an account. So I tried it out and the password still worked.

The rest is history.

I picked "NotWise" as a user name. It was easy to remember. I didn't realize until later that it would also become my penname. I thought it was not wise for me to open an account -- much less publish stories -- given my family, professional, and community position.

"Uncle Story-Teller" referred to itinerant story-tellers who wandered through the countryside telling amusing tales in the rural hamlets in return for food, coins, and other gifts. At night, his tales would often entertain the adults of the village, particularly the womenfolk, from whom he might receive more intimate gifts. I started out just writing stories to please the women (still do for the most part), and so adopted the name, Tio Narratore, from the Spanish.

There is an elevated train station near my home at Gun Hill Road.

There was a movie called Last Train From Gun Hill, but it was a western. Maybe the screenwriter was a New Yorker.

By the way, Gun Hill Road refers to skirmishes fought in the area during Washington's retreat from New York in 1776. The Americans placed cannons in what is now Woodlawn Cemetery.

I like Abba too.
True story: a friend in high school had a cassette of Abba's Greatest Hits and I borrowed it, and traded him my cassette of The Essential Jimi Hendrix to let me keep it.
Most people I tell that to think I'm out of my fucking mind. "You seriously traded Hendrix for Abba?"

It would be an excellent name for myself, for similar reasons. But you got here first. :D

Mine came from a random name list I keep to pick character names from. Doesn't relate to anything in my life/experience.

My coauthor name here, Shabbu, is an amalgamation of one of my publishing names, habu, and that of my coauthor, Sabb.

LOL. Kudos to you. When I was in high school, I don't think I would have been brave enough to admit to liking ABBA, other than thinking the women in the band were hot, of course. Anything outside of metal or hard rock would have been not acceptable to a lot of the guys I knew.

By the time I got to college I was listening to all kinds of stuff and didn't care so much what people thought.

Kind of the business model of a YouTuber or Twitch streamer today, only they had no internet so they had to travel to reach the people.

<<----- This picture might make it obvious.

Haulover clothing optional beach in North Miami is my wife's and my "happy place". Unfortunately we don't live anywhere near Florida, so going there is a rare treat.

When I first made an account for myself I was reading Lit on my cell phone via the Android app, under an umbrella on Haulover Beach.

The name seemed obvious at the time and I still think it was a good choice.

“Omenainen” is a word in my native language. It’s just a random word, the first word I thought of, it’s like a pet name for apple (In Finnish, for those too lazy to use google translator). It’s way easier to pick something from something other than English when trying to create a username to anything at all.

Also, anonymous as this is, I wanted it to be something that’s obvious to anyone who knows, I know it will stick out from like the “new stories” list to any fellow countrymen. And it does, I’ve been here like a month and already one commentator found me and commented in Finnish. And lo and behold, their nickname was also in Finnish, and as random a word, so I suppose our method of choosing was similar.

The Tx part is easy. My location. The Rad part comes from the misspelling of my first name on an old club jacket back in the day. I went by Rad until I got to Lit and found out the name was too short for the site or it may have already been in use. I don't remember exactly.

It's a long story. The short version: One half of my handle is true, the other a lofty goal to strive for.

The intials (JJ) are a nickname I had when I was younger.

The names I plugged into those initials here, however, (Joey and Jax) for each are derived from the protagonist's name in my first story, which I later nixed, where Joey=Joseph and Jax=Jackson.

So a mix of fiction and reality? I guess that's appropriate. :)
