I'm a n00b to Linux and have been fucking around with different distros. I like Mint and Zorin so far. Ideally, I'd like one with a built-in VPN because I'm having a helluva time getting my own VPN to work on any distro. Some guidance would be appreciated. I can pay you in virtual virgins.

I'm not doing anything special with it, just trying a different OS.

I chose Mint Cinnamon for the hard drive install after "live" testing several. Fuck you all for you invaluable input.

I've run variations of Mint for years. Currently running Mint + XFCE. I rather like it. Stable, reasonably fast (for this computer) an all around solid distro. Currently runs on 3 different laptops. A server and this old thing.

Never tried Mint. Tried Debian, Red Hat and Ubuntu, which is a Debian derivative. Ubuntu has been my goto for years. I have had it as at least a dual boot on every desk top I've built.

I like it. I'm having problems with the app store not installing apps though. I can download using Transmission and all other downloads work fine but the app store apps just hang during installation.

Any tips?
Windowsfx give it a shot, I had been using Mint for a long time before moving to this, worth a try for sure. https://windowsfx.org
Looks cool! I'm gonna try the WindowsFX Cinnamon.

Ubuntu is my second so far.

Are you talking about android type apps? Or what? Most of the stuff that comes off the Software Manager seems to work fine (with a few exceptions). There are times when you have to use the terminal to get some packages to install but other than that I'm not sure what issue you are speaking about.

Not android apps, ones from the software (built-in) manager. FileZilla and qbitorrent in particular.

Problem with those is they are not always the current version. You may have better luck by going to the developers site and DL or install from there. Might have to use the terminal window and do it by command line (they usually have instructions).

The way Winblows is trying to force people to jump through hoops is making me consider this, but I'm generally not brainy enough to try it. Hell I can barely get one boot on, let alonre trying for two.
