Your favorite early-cancelled television shows

The Black Donnellys. Irish mob boys in training. What more could you want?

True.

That show definatley had potential. I can only assume that they didn't get enough views to carry it on.

So, i think I'm the ONLY one who has never heard of...or seen...Firefly. What network was it on?

This is going back a ways, but does anyone remember,"Police Squad"?
It's the show that the Naked Gun movies were based on. It only ran for 6 episodes.
Yeah. Funny as hell. Different cast from the movies, with the exception of Leslie Nielsen.

It ran on Fox,in 2002. Only 11 episodes were aired, before it got cancelled.
Idiots.

LOVE Police Squad! Years ago one of the cable channels ran the series as part of a New Year marathon. Dad and I sat and watched them all.

Favorite part? Introduction of the special guest and the "freeze" at the end of the show.

Does anyone remember American Gothic?

Yeah, I don't really remember it, either, but I remember being upset when they cancelled it. In '96 - jeebus. Old.

A show called Dead Like Me on showtime.

Was fucking awesome and they stopped shooting after 2 full seasons with no closure to the show. :(

Arrested Development and Firefly. Fucking FOX.

Those, along with Andy Richter Controls the Universe and Wonderfalls.

Okay, I searched the thread and I see that Firefly is already well represented, but I'm going to mention it again. Best TV show ever. Fox sucks.

We watched the first show on television and told everyone we knew that it was very funny and would never, ever last an entire season. So we copied them from the television on VHS. We recently bought them on DVD. They're still just as funny.

I'd leave Metalpocalypse because some people like it. I've watched some and it's kinda funny, really it's the voices that get on my nerves. But no 12 oz mouse or squidbillies (sorry, smutts) or super milk chan or saul of the mole men or Tom Goes to the Mayor. If we're going to make exceptions to the animation programming, the shows better be really funny. And TGTTM isn't.

And the anime would be better. Well, most of the anime is good, but they could use some Elfen Lied. Awww yeah.

Metalocalypse is the most genius show on tv.

that anime shit can go.

I hate that, we need a website called What would have happened, where they could lay out how canceled shows plot lines were planned out.

Last year I was watching Smiths, and one about bank hostages, I don't remember the name, but both were canceled quickly, and I wonder what the writers had in mind for the show.

Firefly, Futurama, The Adventures of Brisco Country, Jr., The Dresden Files.

I'm agreeing with Brisco, and futurama for sure!
It's also upsetting that they cancelled Star Trek Enterprise. That became a very good show which was good for ten years..but lasted 5 or less. Right when I started to get into it.

So....I'm perusing the shows on abc.com and lamenting the fact that the stupid ass "Cavemen" show still hasn't been cancelled. This is worst piece of tripe.

How is it that shows like this seem to go on forever and some really wonderful shows never get the attention they deserve?

What was are your favorite early-cancelled televion shows? You know the best shows that no one bothered to watch?

Mine:

I'm not a big situation comedy fan, but in 1999, there was an incredibly funny and witty sit com called "It's Like You Know" with the VERY funny Evan Handler, as well as Jennifer Gray (as herself, post-nose job), A.J. Langer, and Steven Eckholdt.

It was produced by the folks who did Seinfeld (which I liked, but didn't love). "It's Like You Know" was so stealthy in its wit....a very intelligent show. It didn't spoon feed you the humor...it was subtle. Utterly watchable. Nobody watched it! Cancelled. I just didn't get it.

WOW... I thought I was the only one who remembered that show... It is one of my favorite all time... It was like Seinfeld, but in LA.

I loved that show. The actress that played George was so adorable. I could kick
Showtime's ass for that.

Invasion, on ABC, that was one of the best shows. Along wi' Threshold on CBS, and Surface on NBC, canceled way too soon, Threshold seemed so promising.

Ya know, Daisy is now appearing on that show based on the James Patterson book
series, I believe she's playing the D.A. I haven't had a chance to catch it, but my
husband says it's pretty good.
