Your diet thread

I think our degree of fatness or leanness has less to do with what we eat and more to do with other factors. I read/heard somewhere that our gut bacteria has a lot to do with it.

I know lean people who eat junky foods and a lot of food and they aren't very active.

I try to stay as active as I can. I dance for about 5 hours a day, most days. I workout with weights. Yet I feel like all I have to do is look at food and I gain.

The good this is that aside from when I was pregnant and just after, I've been about this same weight, give or take 2-3 pounds for about 35 years.

I try to start each day with a tall glass of celery juice over ice. Yummy! Then I follow that with another tall glass of ice water with lemon and lime added. I can't do the lemon and lime every day because I tend to be pretty alkaline.

Breakfast is usually buttered toast and cottage cheese with a little applesauce and chia seeds. I changed it up this morning. Only had a small container of cottage cheese with pineapple. Had a small apple and some grapes with seeds as well.

Am just now eating my dinner of whole wheat spaghetti with red sauce and meatballs.

I will have another snack before bed. Most likely another apple and a piece of cheese.

I would LOVE to have a big salad or some other veggies but I have digestion issues so have to be very careful with them.

Do I get hungry? Rarely.

I think when you make a fat cell, it's yours for life. :)

From what I've read the keto diet isn't usually sufficient to actually throw you into ketosis but it's still helpful I think for the same reason any diet is it makes you mindful of what you're eating.

And it doesn't really matter what you're excluding as long as it's something that you would usually eat by excluding it you burn calories looking for something to eat.

Last night I basically had meat with my meat.

I had one of those shakes before I left and it wasn't very long maybe a couple of hours week when I was feeling hungry and I was trying to remember which places were located along the next little bit of roadway and while I'm staring off into space thinking about it I realize that I'm staring right through an in and out burger sign. So I had a double hamburger protein and animal style.

Later, I realized I was hungry again so I went and had a steak taco on corn tortilla. New kid running the taco stand early in the morning and he left off the guac and the hot sauce and I didn't find these do it yourself hot sauce's new location until it already finished.

I had a Mcdonalds oatmeal on the way home with apples and Craisins but I don't really want to look it up because I know it's gotten way too much sugar.

Johnny's Rules for Healthy Living:

1. Move more, eat less.
B. Don't eat anything they sell in the center aisles of the grocery store.
iii. Don't eat anything handed to you through the window of your car.
4. Don't eat anything that comes in a cardboard box.
E. Don't eat anything a caveman wouldn't recognize.
6. Drink lite beer - it's vegan.

I like this list, especially number 6
and yes, beer is a food group

Cavemen drank beer? :)

Starting to figure this diet thing out. Burnt ends smothered in barbecue sauce = bad....takes about week to recover from and the cupcake didn't help either....but brisket smothered in beef fat = good.

Occasional starving = good....but too much starving = bad.

There are rules to cover every situation.

Learn the rules. :)

Yep. I'm getting fat. This is week 3 and I want to eat a horse...or at least a cow.

I'm drinking 64 oz. of water a day and pee out 64 oz. of "water" most of which seems to be between 10pm and 5am.

Join me in my misery. :)

alternate day fasting. i've lost about 20 lbs. in 3 months. my dr. was very approving. he said either that or eating in only a specific window of time daily is the only way to lose.

and be careful with the water. it can fuck with your heart.

It's a lot harder to drink water when you aren't thirsty. I did go 3 weeks with very little progress so any downward tick is a plus. :)
