I guess the main things I would have liked to have been told would be just to jump in, don't visit the general board until you know your way around and know you can handle whatever you'll get fed there

i would have to say..don't be surprised if you meet some really nice people. they could become your very good friends. i didnt realize this when i first joined. i thought there were going to be a bunch of pervs. ok so we are pervs, is that a problem?

What does this mean to you?

It should mean that you cannot take offense to non reponsive female posters. It could be they are backlogged, could mean they are "getting some" somewhere else, or it could mean they simply do not like you.

It is quite possible that one minute you will be flirting with the most beautiful woman of all time and the next minute see that woman flirting with some other guy.

Just because she sends replies to you once doesn't mean she is going to reply to you forever. Just because you think the world of her doesn't mean she thinks the world of you.

Just assume you are the 10th, 30th, or 100th guy to hit on her since she logged in.

I know. It isn't fair. It can be painful. And, yes, I am sure you are much "cooler" than the guy she is flirting with now.

If you are unable to "handle" that kind of thing I don't suggest doing a whole lot of flirting.

Also, for whatever reason, there are lots of women here who are married or otherwise attached.

Don't assume they are looking for you to fix thier "problems". Don't assume they are here because they obviously aren't getting what they want at home. Don't assume that you can show her anything that she hasn't seen before.

It sucks. It isn't fair. It can be painful. And, yes, I am sure you "understand" her a lot better than whoever she is with.

One more tip. Be careful of the GB. Even the nice people there are on edge because they expect you to be some "alt" of someone they have crossed.

2) We play nice on the playground. Rules in the playground is no throwing sand out of the sandbox.
3) If you don't want to play nice in the playground go to the general board.
4) Be ready to make some really good friends
5) As Done got old said, It is very addicting. You will find yourself sitting down at your computer thinking "Just 5 minutes" and it turns out to be 5 hours.
6) Don't start dishing out anything that can be turned around and pointed back at you if you can't take it.

Just because a guy is chatting you up in PM, doesn't mean he's not also talking to 10 other women at the same time. It works both ways and it's easy to get hurt.

That aside, I think the most surprising thing I found when I came here was that the people were amazingly nice. I never expected to make really good friends on a board like this, but I have.

I would also agree that most people on the Playground are really nice. But again I would warn them that sometimes all is not as it seems and to 'tread carefully'. I think most people have found that out at one point or another, but on the whole it is a friendly and supportive place, and my closest friends here have seen me through a lot, and hopefully I have them.

I'd also echo the advice about the GB. Don't go there unless you have VERY thick skin, a very limited brain (ie mentally about age 15), or are just a nasty person. My advice is to go there.. watch first... laugh at the retards... and don't post. But that's just me.
