The Goodwill turns down your furniture. They came out and turned their nose up at my old desk and sofa. And the stuff isn't in that bad of shape.

I guess beggars can be choosers. pricks.

I was thinking of ditching my couch for a futon only this morning!

Hiya PC,

Too true, they turned down a sofa of mine. Infact they told me I needed to remove it from there property. I delivered it to them, and it was in good shape. We just got a different sofa.

Ironic, Beggers with chamagne tastes

It's a pretty big slap in the face when the poor are too good for your stuff.

Ouch.

Maybe they just had an overabundance of sofas that day..

But I'm laughing at the mental picture of a couch in a ditch. You should have sat on it and taken your picture ;)

Not to pick on you, but the other side of that coin ...

When I was helping my ex move to California, we couldn't get anyone to take one of his large couches either. So, we hopped in this truck he had borrowed, drove out into the middle of nowhere, made sure no one was watching, and dumped the thing in a big ditch on the side of a country road.

I feel sorry for the people who came across that thing and had to dispose of it. *ducks head*

It was still quite humorous.

Actually, that's a big problem in small, rural towns (like where I live).

People often discard used furniture and appliances along the side of the roads, or in the woods. Not only is it an eyesore, but then we have to pay more in taxes to have other people's trash removed.

You're lucky that nobody saw you ... I wouldn't think twice to copy down a number plate and report it to the local police, if I saw somebody do the same. I would venture that most of my townfolk would do so, as well.

Remembering a funny incident where the local police sifted through bags of trash left on the side of the road, finding envelopes inside addressed to the dumper. Wasn't he SURPRISED when he was called to go back and remove it, or else receive a hefty fine for littering.

What might look like "the middle of nowhere" may very well be somebody else's Heaven On Earth.

There's your kind-hearted open-minded environmentalist leftist for ya...

Yes, I will remember this post.

Fuck, even I'm environmentally sensitive enough to pay my fifteen bucks and take the stuff to the landfill.

sheesh.

Don't whores get paid for their services?

(look Alex - together we make a little peep show!)

Nice ass, Rose.

PC, Goodwill has been extremely picky about these things for years. The problem lies in the fact that we are a disposible society. Goods are made cheaply and priced low enough that people replace them often.

This happened to my dad years ago. Worse thing about it was, he worked for the logging company whose property he dumped it on.

Almost lost his job because of it.

People around here just put the stuff out a day or two before regular garbage pick up day and someone will come along and pick it up to keep for themselves. Put it at the end of your driveway with a sign that says "free" on it and see what happens.

Anyone want a chair that has been ripped to shreds by a cat and repeatedly peed on by what we hope were the cats?

No?

How about a dryer that is completely full of lint? I mean completely. The stuff pours out if you open the door. It still works if you are willing to clean it.

No?

Computer table that got thrown from a pickup? Topheavy Glass Table? Broken Computer chair? We have lots of stuff here.

LOL
