You know, I don't mind a good debate.

What I do mind is folks chiming in with half-assed conspiracy theories, pure factual lies, and claims of motive where no motive at all could be ascribed.

Here's a for-instance. I'm willing to hear really good reasons folks don't want my country involved in Iraq. What I don't want to hear is the old hackneyed arguments like "It's all about oil", "Bush is just a power-monger", "You're, like bad, you know?", or the ever-present, "America's all about being Imperial". None of these is factually true and they're really easy to dismiss on their face. There are good arguments for not being there and they can be made pretty well by someone who cares enough to do just a little homework. We can disagree on whether removing a muderous dictator needs to be our job or not, but it's a point that is always worth debating.

I"m just reminded of this looking at a couple threads tonight. Honestly, I love good debate. I just want the debaters to show up with something worth debating. No one like getting all ready for a good, clean fight to have their opponents show up out of shape and skilless.

most of the people here, about 75%, are debate-impaired.

however, not surprisingly... 82% of those feel they are fully-qualified.

There's an awful lot more to you than you let on here.

I guess I probably shouldn't have let that not-so-secret secret out, huh?

I'll look at the subject. Then the degree of intelligence, usually lack there of. Then I get out the flamethower and sometimes I'll PM honeylick for a cookout.

With no knowledge of any topic except professional roller skating...

I never debate anything unless I can use my eyebrows and body language on my opponents to emphasize my thin, baseless points.

Since I'm devoid of content nor any ideological merit I try to out-physical-'em.

I'm getting the hint that Laz like a debate, but not on his internet sex boards...

honeylick....intelligent is an obvious word to use. Observant is the one I was thinking more of. :)
