Today was interesting

Took mom to funeral of her 94 year old cousin

This is embarassing
but I actually enjoyed myself

learned more about my family

You should have seen me today. I was the lion for sure. I landed me a big fat contract, with possible ownership share in a company.

The meeting started out with this guy telling me everything he wanted to do with his company, and by the end of the meeting, he was checking in with me to make sure what he wanted was ok. Its easy to tell he has a dominate personality, so its important I don't face or embarass him, but he respects a person who is confident, doesn't beat around the bush and tells it like it is.

The thing is, I am in a great spot as his company relies heavily on the Internet to be successful and this happens to be my area of expertise.

One of the highlights of the meeting was when his partner and him were arguing over some elements that were to be on the homepage. I sat there watching silently and he noticed me watching them disagree over these issues. So he asked me my opinion. So I told him they were both wrong, and they needed to do "this" instead. Of course my opinion went entirely against both of theirs so he sits back in the chair and says to me "I'll give ya 5 mins to convince me why."

To which I simply responded I don't need 5 mins, I only need one. I then proceeded to tell him point A, B and C in a matter of 60 secs and that to do otherwise on their homepage would a huge mistake.

Hee hee, he just smiled at his partner and said, "those are pretty good damn reasons, I think its settled don't you?"

Anyways, the whole meeting was like this, it was just a rush.

Glad you got the email. I'll catch up with you later, I got some research and work to do for this new company. Chances are I'll be up all night into tommorrow, so i'll catch you at breakfast.

Maybe I will pull a brown(trout) out of the manestee and bring it with me for breakfast?(one of the few things I miss about Michigan is fishing the mainestee between Cadillac and Traverse).

Normally, we don't work when we're sick, cause of the kids, but we're that short handed right now. It's kind of like, Leslie (my boss) takes inventory, who's the least contagious and the most mobile..

Anyway. I hope today goes well for you. I'd like to be fishing on your lake. Or walking on your beach. Or visiting lighthouses in your area.

Oh, and Michael's (the cool brother) in town.. So I may be mia for a few days. Or at least, not around as much as I usually am. He's doing some work with the red cross and the parish over here for hurricane relief. And he promised to cook while he's here. Of course, that may not really be Michael being sweet, it might just be his healthy sense of self preservation!!

We have tons of lakes and rives and streams and creeks
and of course we have the BIG lake .....

and beaches???? ....... oh ya
we have one mile of pure white sand

and a national park
that takes in the largest moving sand dunes
