Anyway being loved is better than being alone, and alone is better than being used, and abused...and that is not an indictment of a lifestyle or consentual acts between two (or more) adults. What it is is a statement that I'm not going to be someone's dirty little secret anymore.

No, I don't think I am "settling"..he is not anti-BSDM, I just don't think he knows. One can be educated, one can develop interests... We haven't even had sex yet, I have no clue what that is like...who knows? he might surprise me. Remember, he is a counselor and I should be able to communicate with him. Sex is fairly high on my list, and it is one of the areas where I have my shit together. He, OTOH, has really been shat upon in his re;lationships, some of which he brought on himself, he admits.
We will have to work on this. I have hope that he will understand what my needs, requests and desires are about..."Show me what you like..."

A little distance between you and R isn't a bad thing. Absence can be a good thing. Like a bad sunburn, you need to stay out of the sun while you heal. Goodbye is not forever, you know. And this will let her THINK a bit. and APPRECIATE. If she doesn't, well, do YOU deserve better?

And excuse my frankness, and maybe I need to finish reading the rest of the thread before I comment, but it also seems to me that you need to step away from R. From what you've posted here, it seems she's very confused and has no clue as to what she wants out of you, which only ends up hurting you more. I understand your connection to her son, but all she is doing is making you feel more miserable when you really need someone that will lift you up when you're feeling down.

Just my 2 cents....I'll jump down off my soapbox now. And I realize I never answered you in the other thread....I'm from Ohio.

At this point I am leaning
like 80 + % that there will be no more
relationships in my life

The only thing that really pisses me off
is that much of my VA award is for my wife and minor children
and when I die the only thing left is for widow and minor children

Ah, the PREFERRED meal! Those are good for breakfast, lunch, supper, midnight snacks...

i had cheerios with fresh milk. One of the better things about living down the road from a dairy. *laughs* Lunch was good ol' PBnJ sandwiches. Homemade preserves. Smuckers peanut butter - the real stuff, nothing but peanuts and salt. Yummy!

Keep after the VA until they give You something definite. Grandpa went through a lot of the same sort of thing, and we all ended up with the mess when he died. It's really worth kicking their butts over, though. Even if it is just to say that You did.
