I have never even heard of this beautiful girl until today. I can't say that I'd like her music, but I can't say I wouldn't either.

I wish I had heard something of her before learning of her through this tragedy.

She and her entourage insisted on carrying too much stuff aboard. We should all feel sorry for the powerless pilot, who tried to dissuade them.

It would have been easy to send it on another plane.
That was just wrong of them to not take the pilot's advice. They are trained to know when to say when with weight limits.

I know there will be all kinds of rumors flying around but this is straight from the mouth of my 11yr old! haha

She said she heard on the news that they were flying from the bahamas, where they just got done filming a new video, and that the plane crashed somewhere on the tip of florida.

I read on another site that just as the plane had gotten off the ground the weight caused it to crash. It burst into flames and all the bodies were badly burned. The 1 or 2 people who survived the crash were reported to have died soon afterward because their burns were too severe. They say Aaliyah died instantly on impact. (I hope this is true and that she didn't suffer)

While some celebrities are said to be divas, Aaliyah always seemed to be a kind and caring person. It's really sad when a good person dies whether they're famous or not.

She was married to R.Kelly when she was 15 years old. I am sure this has upset him terribly, apparently they were still close. If anyone knows of his song "If I Could Turn Back The Hands of Time", that song kinda fits.. it's a little Otis Redding-ish.

Personally, if I were a celebrity there is no way in hell I would get on a Cessna, seems like they crash all too often....

Hopefully she and the others havent died in vain and new regulations will be implemented giving the pilots the power to say NO MORE LUGGAGE AND ITEMS.

Nah, I'm sure it was a charter plane and the pilot was told to shut up and fly and would've lost his job forever if he hadn't knuckled under and gotten himself killed. I doubt regulations count much for pop divas in the Bahamas. It's a bit like those Everest expeditions in INTO THIN AIR, where the guides all knuckled under to take a bunch to rookies to the top, and half of them got killed. MONEY TALKS and don't forget it. The pilot's family will merely starve now.

If the first part is true, the second isn't. A "kind and caring person" wouldn't risk the lives of everyone just to put extra weight on the plane.

If the first part is true, she should be nominated for a Darwin Award.

It is the video director and the producers wanting to make everything come with them on the plane......

She is just a paid performer.

And since you dont know her or anything about her, then why post to say you know nothing about her, and then later post to insult her?

Seems kind of callous to me.

She wasnt the person in power, it is the people behind the curtain that make all the calls on these video shoots.

Shadowsource posted earlier that SHE was the one who ordered the plane to go with the extra weight. She and her entourage. His word is gospel, isn't it?

That's why I posted "IF" that was true, "THEN" those were my conclusions. A simple If/then statement- shouldn't be too hard to understand. And I stick by it. IF she was responsible for the plane going up with too much weight regardless of warnings, THEN she should be nominated for a Darwin award and I feel no sympathy for her. Only for the pilot and other innocent people killed.
