Yoga and Sex

I've been practicing yoga for a few years and I've definitely noticed an increase in my sex drive, and, even more importantly, more of a confidence in my own body which translates awesomely in the bedroom, as well as life in general.

Anyone else that practices notice a before/after difference? Sexually or otherwise.

The blog post that got me thinking about this today; an interesting read for anyone who practices or is thinking about starting.

Yes, actually. I find that yoga, swimming, and bike riding contribute to my own sense of sexual well-being. There's no doubt that fit people who eat right have a higher mojo. And yay for yogis :cool:

Excellent question, excellent attitude.

So:

1. Are you the kind of person that likes to learn in a class? Just about every city in this great nation has a yoga studio somewhere. Buy a good yoga mat, and join a class. Pick a Level One class, and preferably pick one that isn't "too big." Don't feel bad if you can't do all the moves. Just smile through each one, and lose your ego. Failing's part of the whole deal.

2. Are you the kind of person that prefers to learn by themselves, and only occasionally go to a class? Well, buy a good yoga DVD. Rodney Yee's yoga DVDs come highly recommended. Pick the one that's most beginner friendly. Of course, you'll still need a yoga mat.

3. Are you the kind of person that likes to read about something before you jump in? If so, pick a good yoga book with excellent reviews. The Sivananda yoga books (companion and other book) come highly recommended. That's sort of how I started.

In the end, I was more of a "1." type person, though I started off with "3." I've never done "2." but a close friend has his trusty DVD and swears by it.

Hey thanks. I think I would like to start with a video to get the basics rather than look like a full blown klutz when I first go to class.

Tell us more about it. Yes, it does need more cowbell maybe that is all that is holding you back.
 
I honestly learned from Wii Fit because I don't do classes but it gave me a robot instructor who would judge my stance and whatnot and tell me when I fucked up.

Yeah. I use it every day. I actually won't exercise if I'm not scored on it, and I know this. I'm super lazy and difficult to motivate. I would think that Wiis would be dirt cheap with the WiiU out. There are exercise games for kinect as well, but you better have a giant motherfucking room to play them in. For Wii I'm going to suggest WiiFit Plus for strength and flexibility, and any of the "Just Dance" games for cardio. If you're a cheap bitch who doesn't want to buy the games I'll teach you how to install the homebrew channel so you only have to buy the system and then can run the games from a flashdrive. But it certainly helped me.

Something else is if you do skip a day the trainer will guilt trip you for it. And your avatar progressively gets thinner as you do. It helps not just with exercise but also with balance and such.

Ea active games are good too. I like ea active 2. Has a sensor for your arm and leg that also act as heart monitors. Good shit. I have wii fit as well, with the balance board. Somewhere I got a dance pad and I think one if the ddr games

I went to school with a guy who once did "Dark Black Forrest" on super hard while eating cake. Fucking breakdance mode. I was so amazed I just kind of stopped dancing and stared at him. If I'd been out at the time I woulda fucked the hell out of him. He was my best friend in high school.

But I like "Just Dance" better then Dance Dance because for some reason I keep coming off center on that goddamn dance pad. With Just Dance I can flail about like the spaz I am.

Honestly not sure which it is. To answer the original question, when I was hitting the gym daily I was pretty much a walking hard on.

The active games are more like having a trainer. The second one comes with a resistance band to put a bit of strength training in. Lots boxing and running in place type games. With the heart meter it tracks calorie burn as well. I like that it has different fitness programs and journals and shit. I think it might have a neutrition guide too. My one complant is the leg strap tends to slide down on me.

That calorie burn thing is awesome. Wii Fit has it too. 1500 cal to a pound.
 
I think exercising in general provides the same benefits. I do yoga but not avidly, I don't really enjoy it. It is an intense workout, but I do keep my own workouts intense and I think that's the source of the benefit--that release of toxin and endorphins when pushing yourself just makes you feel more...wholesome, sexy and gives so much energy...and makes for a great libido.

I started out in a class because it was offered for free at my local library. Videos are wonderful and I'll say "ditto" that Rodney's in particular are just awesome, but I would suggest eventually making your way to a class - especially one where they do some kind of hands on adjustments. There's really nothing that compares to a teacher fixing your posture and telling you if you've got a pose wrong.

Oh, I completely agree. Yoga kind of saved my life in a way; helping me get over a lot of mental hurdles. I have never found anything else that grounds me as much and helps me enjoy other forms of exercise. And thanks for responding to this; thought it was dead in the water. :rose:
 
Wii fit and ea active are great. I like how you can create your own workouts on ea. Some of the exercises are quite hard on the knees.
