The legacy media and the Left attempted to brush off the initial gas stove controversy and outcry from the Right as nothing more than an unsubstantiated, irrational conspiracy theory. The White House even insisted that President Joe Biden does not support a ban on gas stoves after one of his federal consumer safety officials suggested that such a ban was on the table.

But, as we are seeing in so many other instances, Republicans were right all along. President Joe Biden’s Department of Energy is, in fact, pushing an extreme regulation that would effectively eliminate nearly all gas stoves.

The Department of Energy is conducting this gas stove grab through a rule that would impose extreme energy performance standards on residential cooktops. The department’s proposed rule sets requirements for gas cooktops at the maximum technologically feasible or "max-tech" level. Based on the Department of Energy's own analysis, gas cooktops at the max-tech level represent just 4% of current market share and exclude all conventional free-stand ranges.

Any rule that causes 96% of the products available today to be eliminated from the market is an extreme regulation. In fact, it is essentially an outright ban on gas stoves.

While it’s true they are discouraging the use and promoting bans on gas stoves for new construction, no one is planning to take away existing ones.

The title of the opinion piece is a lie. Of course Rightguide clings to it.

We now live in an age where clean nuclear fusion is a reality, within a generation it may be the primary source of energy. There are also solutions available for clean energy storage, so continuing to enrich an economy based on polluting and toxic non-renewable sources is foolish.

The future is bright no matter how dim your thinking is.

Using the grid strategically promotes efficiency. Technologies are available to strengthen the electrical grid, investing in it rather than last century’s toxic and polluting tech is the present and future.

I don't agree with the idea of the government telling me what kind of stove, washing machine, car or toilet to buy, but I DO agree with helping fund research into more efficient gas (or electric) stoves or cars, or better energy/water saving toilets and washing machines, and giving consumers the tools and the choice to buy them or not.

And histrionics aside, both speccio AND the original poster have NO PROBLEM with the government taking away personal autonomy, sexual freedoms, banning books, telling women what the can and cannot do with their bodies, and I could go on but the point is, Mr. Body and Mr Guide seem a bit hypocritical with their whole "Get government regulations out of our lives!" schtick, when they are typically the ones clamoring for MORE government regulations in our personal lives.

The government has and will always tell you what kind of stove yadda yadda you could buy. Well more accurately they tell the manufacterer what they can and cannot sell in the United States. All countries do it and damn well should. Lots of progress would NEVER happen if the country didn't do that.
