hmm does the organizer need to be active for the contest to still happen as planned?

I think without an organiser, the event may falter.
I sent Laurel a PM, and she responded saying the event would still go ahead, but was hoping somebody may volunteer to fill in as organiser until @MyBareTorso is able to get back to it.

I don't really know. I have never run one.
Laurel did say. If somebody was interested. They should DM her and I assume she will explain, and help.

I can't possibly see this running again this year. As far as I can tell, it is erroneously listed on the event thread pinned above. Someone (Laurel) copy/pastad last year's and didn't bother proofreading. Not only that, she just updated the thread a couple days ago and didn't remove it. The thread is also locked so one cannot ask for clarification there. I suppose that someone could ping her here but I won't because I'm pretty sure that she has something personal against me so I'm not about to poke the bear.

Not that I am going to be submitting again this year, but wouldn't it be worth waiting until the start of the challenge date (as you would have been doing if it was running) as if someone stepped up to the mark and it ran, you would be dissapointed that you had published too early.

I am the event organizer for the 2025 Literotica Convention Challenge and here's my fledgling understanding (or at least all that I've been doing):

You start the support thread by cutting and pasting (and changing/editing as needed).
Then you hang around and answer questions and encourage and cheerlead as needed.

I think that's it! It's not that difficult. It does take some time, but I feel that it's worth it to give a little back to the site and its members.

I think this was all sparked off by MyBareTorso saying that they couldn't host it this year, so you are only committed for this year and I don't think anyone would object. But possibly best to DM MyBareTorso to check as well as DMing Laurel.

I've reached out to Laurel about me volunteering to be an organizer for this event in June, but a week's passed and no response so far. MyBareTorso did privately give me his blessing.

I'm wondering if it's rude to start a 2025 thread considering the challenge is 2 months away.

Not at all. The time to jump on it is now! If you're still mystified/queasy about the process, the person to ask is @Duleigh , who organizes a handful of events. The biggest thing I notice is mostly being a cheerleader.

I had fun with last year's sports event and even started one for this year, but inspiration is failing beyond a paraphrase repeating last year's plot. Maybe that'll change in time.

Author Organised Challenge

Sweat dripping off hard, muscular bodies...men and women engaging in physical activity...biceps bulging in the gym...nude, showering bodies covered in soap in the locker room after a hard game.

Even if you're not a sports fan, you have to admit it...sport can be very, very sexy.

In this first time Literotica challenge, we want you to submit stories that revolve around or feature sport in some way. Team sports, solo sports, professional sports, amateur sports played solely for recreation, sports fans, fan fiction about famous sports stars...the choice is yours!

The possibilities are nearly endless! A veteran coach has a surprise tryst with an upcoming tennis star; a husband and wife get amorous while watching the Superbowl; five cheerleaders happen upon their team's star quarterback naked in the shower; two people on a date bond over their passion for basketball; a lone surfer is seduced by a mermaid; an alien race engages in bizarre sex-themed sporting contests; a sexy game of strip tennis goes all the way...and on and on and on until the final whistle.

Get off the bench and onto the field with your hot, sexy sports stories in this first time Literotica challenge! Yay, team!

Guidelines:
1. This event is open to all authors.
2. All stories must involve sport in an at least semi-meaningful way.
3. Chapters in existing series are more than welcome.
4. Stories can be in any category.
5. This is a challenge, and not a contest...there are no winners or prizes...ironic considering this is sports related, but hey, it's all about how you play the game, right?
6. Sporting cliches are not only welcome but encouraged!
7. Make sure to include the phrase YAY TEAM 2024 in the NOTES TO ADMIN field so your story can be easily located and posted in a timely manner.

I’m volunteering to do it but I haven’t gotten an official response from the powers that be that I can take over. Therefore it feels premature to create a 2025 thread if I haven’t been authorized to do so.

The way I'm looking at it is the official list by Laurel has 2025 listed, so to me, it's a goer.

Chloe couldn't do the Heroism event, so I created the new thread and sent Laurel the link, saying I'd taken it on. She sent me a "thank you".

The way that I see it is that Laurel copy/pastad last year's in 10 seconds and didn't double-check it, then again when she updated it, didn't ever look it over at all.
