Yahoo & NCAA Hoops Pool

Anyone who is using Yahoo's Tournament Pick'em deal will have noticed you can join groups to see how you're doing against friends, co-workers, fans of your favorite team, etc... You can use your same picks for as many groups as you feel like joining and I'm already in a handful of groups myself.

So I figured I'd go ahead and create one more group for Lit users.

Anyone interested just go to Yahoo's Fantasy Sports page and sign up for their Tournament Pick'em. Here's the info you need to join:

Group ID# 50187
password: pittisit

The deadline to make your picks is 12:15 ET on Thurday (about 5 minutes before the tip off for the first game).

Like I said, it's open to anyone - you just need a Yahoo ID.

I'm looking forward to kicking as many butts as possible.

And do I detect a Pitt supporter?

Up to a point.

They'll lose to Kentucky cause they (Pitt) can't shoot fucking free throws.

The fucking Selection Commitee screwed them straight up the wazzoo.

Ahem. Sorry Lasher, but I'm quite sure they'll lose in the elite eight to a battle hardened Mizzou. But you're right, they got screwed.

No way.

Mizzou is going down to the Salukis!

Pitt rolls right up until the time they hit Kentucky.

Thank God for the double bonus!

The Sa-who-kis? Heck, I might've given you the benefit of the doubt, but Howland and company will be distracted by the UCLA job (whether he considers it or not). Got to say two and out for Pitt.

The UCLA thing isn't anything new here. The rumours have been in the local paper since December and it's been talked to death.

This team is so focused it's unreal. Did you see the Big East Tourny final? They absolutely smothered UConn in the 2nd half.

I'd have Pitt as a final four team in any bracket that didn't have Kentucky or Arizona... Both those teams are better. Pitt should be the 1 seed in the East playing Vermont in the first round. At worst they should've been the 2 seed in Kansas bracket.

Southern Illinois is tough... The were the MWC regular season champ, not Creighton. They were 3-1 against tourny teams this year.

Well good luck to you then. I like Pitt, caught them a couple of times this year. They really seem to go after every loose ball and have a nice intensity. I'm no stranger to the Salukis either. Hell, I'm only 120 miles from Saluki country. They'll be no match for the peaking at the right time Mizzou tigers. I suspect Pitt and Mizzou will meet and it will be a helluva game.

I'm still looking for upsets, lol.

The only low seeds I feel good about right now are Weber St and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I like the Salukis cause they've got a reputation for being a bracket buster and I'm just not sold on the Big 12 yet.

I have issues with 6 seeds also, lol.

Ummm... Ok people, don't make me kick Chef's ass all by myself. Others can join in too.

I have a good excuse though

Out of country and fucking UCLA played like shit all year.

I hope Arizona wins just so I can see we beat the champ in a tourney

We need players that can play first

Howland's pretty good at finding them.

By the end of his first season at Pitt they were down to 7 scholarship players on the roster.

3 years later they're a #2 seed that should've been a #1.

He's good.

Ok, this can't be good:

NCAA could postpone tournament games if war breaks out

The NCAA will consider postponing games in the men's and women's basketball tournaments and other national championships if war with Iraq begins this week.

President Myles Brand acknowledged Monday for the first time that the NCAA was checking the availability of arenas and hotels for the days after first and second-round games are scheduled to be completed. That would give the officials more flexibility in making a decision about postponements.

"We don't know when it will start, and we have to be respectful of our men and women in uniform," Brand said following an NCAA town hall meeting on sportsmanship that was sponsored by Indianapolis television station WISH.

"On the other hand, I think we have to be very careful not to let Saddam Hussein control our lives. We have to balance those," he said.

The primary consideration, Brand said, would be the safety of the athletes and fans.

Of course the first thing I'd do if I was a psycotic Iraqi would be... lets bomb a basketball game.

Is the NBA getting ready to cancel games as well?

I'm in...

Have to agree that Pitt got a bit screwed. The played like gangbusters against Conn.

My final 4 looks like this

Kentucky, Arizona, Florida, Syracuse

AZ and 'Cuse i the final

Arizona to win the whole thing

For a second I thought we were gonna end up tied, Mountain Man.

Then I remembered I changed my UConn/Florida pick.

6 people signed up now.

Girlies are definitely welcome.

It's not a pool until someone picks all the games based on mascots or colors.

If there's anyway we can get Al Quaeda to bomb Kentucky please let me know.

Thanks.

No... we have to ask Saddamn Dont we?

Saddam, it has been proven that all the bomb makers come from KY jelly, BOMB them.

Think that will work Lash?
