Past few days, I've had a weird problem with yahoo messenger.

I recently added someone as a friend. That should be a case closed. But - every time I log in to yahoo msgr, either at home or at work, I get repeated pop-ups from this person, asking permission to be added as a friend or whatever...

I'm wondering if this is a yahoo glitch. The paranoid side of my brain suggests that because I almost always lurk invisibly, this is my new friend's way of checking to see if I'm online - possibly... say - deleting me from their friend list, then asking permission anew to be added as a friend, to see if I'm actually online & ignoring them or hiding.

Or, it could be a real yahoo glitch - anyone ever run into this problem????

oh wow, what a pain! not sure if its a yahoo glitch or not, but i know ive been having a horrible time with stupid yahoo stuff lately {not particularly what you are going thru}-- and! for some reason, if i log onto yahoo with my desktop PC, it looks liket he regular yahoo page, if i log on thru my laptop, its this newer looking page... not sure why!?? anyway.. good luck!

Are they asking permission to add YOU as a friend? Or asking permission to BE your friend?

I've never heard of this happening, but YIM has done stranger shit in the past. When it first happened, did you click Yes? Usually that pop-up comes when they're asking permission to be able to add you.

It's also possible, since you lurk (like me!) that they're not entirely certain that the confirmation went through, since they never see you on -- they may think that THEY have the glitch, and are trying to fix it.

?

It says he would like to add me to his list. I sent him an e-mail asking about it, and he says he has no idea what's going on with that... and yet, this a.m., I have the same pop-up, requesting permission to add me to his messenger list.

Also weird, whether I'm at home or at work, I'm constantly getting pop ups telling me that he's signed out & back in, immediately. out/in, out/in. It's so irritating - I have no idea if he's really doing that, or if it's just yahoo. None of the other friends on my list are misbehaving, and I've never seen this glitch before.

Hmmmmmmmm.

I"ve had similar problems with yahoo before, or sometimes add request pending stays next to a name after they've accepted; maybe he's got that going on? Try deleting him and re-adding him.

I haven't had that problem before...But I have had problems when I logged on it would log me off and say that I signed onto a different computer...

Watergirl I'm rather of the opinion that it's not yahoo messing up any more than normal.

Does he keep logging in and out when you are talking to him?

Does he keep asking personal questions, not that stupid A/S/L thing, but what size clothes you wear, do you prefer crotchless or thong for your lingerie, and other deeply personal only boyfriend gets to know things?

Does he go on and on about how your his soulmate and gorgeous and want to meet?

Does he say he is in love with you and ask you to marry him?

Does he get upset if you are talking to a guy besides him?

If you answered yes to any two, you have a stalker, change your ID, ban him from your new ID and your old ID and change your locks, move if you see a strange guy hanging around for more than an hour for two days in a row or more.

If you only answer yes to one question, well he is needy and needs to get a life. Optional, but feel free to do any of the above things. ;)

He has not said soulmate or gorgeous. He isn't too personal. We haven't chatted to much, but yahoo does show him logging in & out frequently, not sure if that's a yahoo glitch or what.

I get the error message too frequently that yahoo has logged ME out b/c I signed in on a different computer - not possible.

I finally got his add requests deleted entirely & ignored, but that problem solver coincided with Comcast finally fixing my crappy wireless service that kept dropping in & out...

Anyway - yeah, I'm getting minor warning bells & women's intuition, and paying attention to that, but it also doesn't seem to be completely him. So, we'll see...

Thanks for all the encouraging words!
