Writing Goal for the Day?

My goal is for Wednesday because that is when the kids get back to school. So I'm cross-stitching these next few days.

I've been working on this little cross-stitch Xmas decoration while we drive. Easier than using the computer. ;) Your kids are off until Wednesday? Wow. My son has to go back on Monday.

Today's writing goal is to get habu's Home to Fire Island back to the publisher for launching and to write an introduction for habu's Clint Folsom Compendium Volume 1 and to start reviewing it.

I didn't get anything done on the Valentines day stories but I did get 6000 words in on an old story that has been bugging me to finish it. :D

Published one book on Smashwords last night. Book 2 of Broken (me e-book version of my SWB series)

I also put my first book up on Amazon. Not expecting much, it's a vast sea over there, but figured why not?

Tonight editing the last two chapters to get the third Broken e-book finished, the girl is supposed to be getting me the cover tonight.

Then I start the first chapter of my New BDSM series.

Goddamn being home from work is great! It's amazing what I can do in a full day.

I may not go back.
Somewhere, even as I typed that, my wife just twitched.

I've been working on this one: http://cdn1.stuff4crossstitch.com/c...f78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/2/7/277197.jpg I'm about 1/3 rd of the way done.

Impressive. :) I'm working on a little ornament thing, nothing compared to that.

Looks like this evening will involve a trip to the local mall, as Mom needs to try to return an item of clothing her sister gave her that is too small and ... quite 70s looking. My aunt does this all the time; if the stuff isn't too small, it's wool, and Mom is allergic to wool. Ah, Christmas traditions.

I understand. This year was the first time ever that my kids didn't have anything needing exchanged, or gift cards they would never use that I offered to buy off them in exchange for cash. lol

I love to cross-stitch. These two I've done and are probably my favorite pieces:

I find it pretty funny, this annual necessary return, but Mom doesn't, and I can see that. At least this year there was no feather boa -- Mom is not a feather boa type of person. Problem is my aunt always thinks my mom is smaller than she is, hence always buys XS or S when it should be S or Medium. And always forgets Mom is allergic to wool.

Those are lovely cross-stitches and I wouldn't mind trying that myself. I tend to do smaller projects, as they're all I have time for. I also crochet more than cross-stitch.

Thank you. :)

My sister-in-law did the same thing for my eldest, in buying clothes. It is obvious she isn't the same size as her sister, but she buys the clothes in the same size for both. These last few years I've steered her toward gift cards for the eldest and that works out best for all involved.

I can not crochet or knit - I've tried both and I have failed the few times I've tried it. The "Stroke of Midnight" one took me 7 years because three of those years I discovered my desire to write, and pretty much stopped cross-stitching altogether. The bride one took me about 3-4 months. I enjoy smaller projects as my travel crafts, a lot easier to pack a project with 10 colors rather than 60 or more.

I never return any Christmas presents. I'll have to admit that the guest room bureau drawers are full of stuff still (mostly) in their original wrappers. My son-in-law says I should be able to make a killing on e-bay in about fifty years.

Depending on what they are, you just might. lol

Possibly sooner. The nostalgia/retro cycle seems to be getting shorter all the time.

My aunt always thinks my mom is smaller than mom actually is, hence she buys clothes too small. This is not usually a problem with me, for some reason. ;) It is with the kids, again, b/c she has no real concept of the sizes (to be fair, she doesn't see them too often) clothes are either too small or too big. But she's a sweetheart and generous so I don't mind any returns.

I haven't managed to knit, but have been crocheting for close to thirty years (ack!) on and off. Yes, writing means less time for any crafts. I have a big tea-themed cross-stitch I was working on, but it's still wrapped in the paper and tape from when we moved, four and a half years ago.

Sad to say unless you got some real niche stuff you're not getting jack on E-bay. E-bay has destroyed the collectible market.

Years ago whatever it was you collected was costly because of demand, especially local demand. If your local comic/card/hobby shop did not have it and you could not find it at a local trade show you were screwed, or paid through the ass to an out of state dealer.

Now go on e-bay. any comic/card/coin and what have you is there, at a variety of conditions and prices.

A collector knows comic book x is worth $1000 but Joe shmoe found it in dad's attic and started it for .99 he is thrilled to get $50 for it.

I just had a 40 auctions end, every comic was according to the guide(big joke these days) was worth around $25-$30 dollars. I averaged $6.50 a sale. Granted none were "key" issues, but it gives you an idea. Fortunately I buy huge collections for pennies on the dollar (I doubt I paid.50 apiece) so I'm still making money but it's a watered down market for pretty much anything.

I'm going to try and get something done today but it looks like time may be a major problem.

LOVEBOAT

With collectibles you gotta know your stuff. I found a signed copy of DRACULA but the book was printed one year after Bram Stoker died. On 2nd thought maybe I walked away from a really rare find!

Time's always the problem, no matter where I am. Ah well. Looks like I will play with the new digital camera today (present from PennBro) and then Mr. Penn and I may go have a lunch sans kids. Then we need to set up Netflix for PapaPenn and MamaPenn. I keep hoping writing time will appear from somewhere, but I doubt it...

Got a book off to the publisher yesterday only to turn around and see that I have another one to work on today. A Valentine's Day contest story idea dropped yesterday, but I don't know if I'll find time to write it up before I forget it. Several other stories are backed up in the queue as well.

Thought I'd spend the day doing "real" work after r/l shoved a bunch of shit at me this week. However, now that I'm dog sitting our mutt and I expect too many interruptions to do any "real" work, I'm reduced to either playing with my new Toshiba Thrive tablet  OR working on a Valentine's contest submission that fell into my lap. I had an idea of an incest story - not an area I ever thought I'd do, but what the hell, right?

Play or write? Writing wins!

Oh, and I've gotten the idea that Incest stories can get as roughed up as LW stories. Guess I should put my armor on before I submit to incest?

Trying to get dialogue done for my characters on the re-write, but it's tough getting it to match up to the personalities. Writng it without conversation was easier, but readers wanted it in, so subsequent chapters have it. Translating it back to the first chapter wasn't as easy as I thought. The circumstances aren't the same between them, so how they talk to each other later, doesn't work with how they do when they first meet and the first 'friendly' times between them, as they get to know each other.

Tour guide duty again today. Right now, we're in Everglades National Park. Hopefully ii'll get some gator pics.

I've never gotten too much for my Incest stories, I have a few out there, 2 daughter/dad, and one taboo - brother-in-law/sister-in-law. MY LW stories don't get too harsh treatment, just stir up controversial discussion which is fun all by itself.

Progress

In the last 2 days, I have finished an outline and written a 6,000 word draft for a Valentine's Day entry. I'm going to let it sit for a day before revising and editing. This feels good.

Incest does not get flamed as badly as LW. Hell, Obama hasn't gotten flamed as bad as an LW story.

The only way you get clobbered in incest is if they are not truly related (I think you asked this in a thread) or if you give it some kind of sad ending. Incest readers like light and fluffy.

If you are going the route of a brother/sister valentine type thing they will eat it up.

I have one outlined, but won't enter the contest in incest I'm going for mature this time out(the category, I myself will never be mature).

Oh, the other way you can get scorned in incest is to mix it with BDSM. I learned that one through a lot of hate mail.
