Writing Goal for the Day?

All four are in the 7-9k words range but none have the end in sight yet.

I never set a word limit. The stories goes until it is told.

I'm with you there. I never have set a limit, unless it was called for in the instructions like a contest or assignment back when I was in school. I hated writing papers for Instructors that were limited to three pages. I often killed my characters off because I had so much more story for them to be told and had no room to tell it.

I've had short stories in the 1200 range and longer pieces in the 80K (that one is not on Lit. - maybe someday). Right now my newest story is 4600 and reaching the turning point. If I'm lucky I'll have it finished today. :D My newest one is out and I'm thrilled with the results so far (I say that in a whisper so too many meanies don't hear it).

I was able to get one finished today and am now editing the tiny bit I have heading down the path of a Valentine Day entry. I did proof read the one I just finished repeatedly and even checked on my "than/then" and I think I'm good - so hopefully the anonymous person who is hounding me about my "than/then" oopsies will be nice to me when "Making Him Squirm" posts.

Struggling a little with the latest. When I first started writing a couple of years back I was writing in third person.

Since I have been on lit all but 4 of my 61 stories are in first person, and I am now having a hard time "sliding back" to third.

Comments received back from beta reader on R&B7 so it should be ready for submitting soon. Not feeling so great today, though. Sigh.

I hope today is better for you. :rose:

---

I finished the V-day story and have lots of time to read over it, add to it, edit it, and all that fun stuff before the submission date.

Now I'm going to tackle a couple Exhib/Voyuer stories that have been floating around in my head.

Well, I woke up this morning and realized I wanted to change the middle and end of my V-day story so I'll be doing that. Afterward, if I'm able I'll work on developing the Exhib/Voyuer story I did not get to yesterday.

Also today I'm battling hearing out of only one side of my head - never a good thing when you have kids, because you have no clue they are talking to you if they are the kind of kids that mumble or talk low - which means you're often accused of "ignoring" them.

Submitted Ch 7 of R&B last night. That feels like an accomplishment. Ch 8 went to the beta reader, although final revisions probably won't be had until next weekend. Suppose I'd better finish this thing.

No drilling today, we finished very early this morning. Monitoring gas only so I'll have a good writing day. At least the time will be available.

Last night was an odd dream night. In my "dream Journal," I have written several pages of dreams, and most of them look like they could make excellent short stories, though just two appear to be erotic.

My goal is to write down the ideas I had on the way to work today, but I seem to be buried under a mountain of work, and the mountain keeps getting taller and taller. Apparently, busting my ass over Christmas just made my academic overlords think that I have lots of time to do free, mind-numbing labor for them.

Oh, and I just had the weird experience of turning on the TV and seeing an old high school classmate. Always weird.

Ha, I never even see old high school classmates when I got back to NJ, where i went to high school.

You mean you don't have all that free time?

I am so happy with what I've accomplished since coming back to Lit. and I look forward to setting a new goal for tomorrow morning, because I've finished my two I set for today. :D

ETA: I just came up with another GREAT idea. :D

Got some writing done yesterday and should get even more done today.

Submitted a new story yesterday and I may get another in the works today.

A couple of older stories have caught my eye that look like they may get finished soon.

I'm working on a Review/Essay submission this morning. The idea came to me last night during a Yahoo conversation - NO - not an X-rated one - perverts. :p

I received such great compliments and encouragement for "Only for One Night". People are still emailing me. It's funny because I put more effort into "He, She and Him" and it was either strongly loved or severely hated. On another site though, it won an award. I try not to look at the ratings, but I can't help it. Today I'm finishing up Chapter 2 of "Only for One Night". I don't start teaching until tomorrow, so I have all day.

Funny thing, I took a nap yesterday and was lost in a semi-dream state. Chapter Two just came to me. Don't you just love when that happens? It makes everything so easy--almost spiritual. I've been spending more time thinking about my erotic stories than my "great novel". But professionally, it is more important that I be published in a more respected genre of fiction. Writing good erotic lit is a lot harder than people think. It deserves more respect.

I think it is great that PennLady can juggle so many stories at one time. I have a hard time keeping them seperate.

I'm watching different 'mental' videos of a scene in my head today and decide which one fits best and segues into the next chapter better. I can do 'on the fly' changes to dialogue and scene action to speed up the process, while still maintaining the integrity of the scene itself.
Does anyone else use this method? Do you find it speeds things up or just confuses the issue?

I'm not sure if what I do is the same or not but ---when I find myself thinking back and wondering "what if" eventually I too am able to make tiny changes that add to what I've already got down. I don't think it speeds things up or confuses it for me. I do have to reread it and make sure it still holds the flow that I see in my head - usually it does, but sometimes I have to reword a line here or there, or move one line up and place it with a different paragraph.

I'm so glad you're on the "up" and having a lot of fun writing no matter the genre. :rose:

I liken it to an Ecomic, where you get to decide which way to take the story at a certain point. One way leads to this sequence and that one to another. The scene is a pivotal moment and subsequent events have to blend into it. I came up with several, so I picture it like watching a video and run the scene forward. I know what's coming later, so I look for the introduction point and see if it fits.

The challenge comes when what I like, ends up having to be factual historically and not a fictionalized rendering. Anything out of character or era is very strict to curtail at times, when it would certainly make for better reading.

Hoping to get the final review of the first volume of the Clint Folsom compendium done today and back to the publisher and then work on trimming down a Stephen Kessel book.
