Writing Goal for the Day?

The mop, the floor or stopping -- which don't you know? ;)

I'm well acquainted with the floor; I spend an inordinate amount of time picking up food from it thanks to the kidlet. And I wish the kid understood the word, "stop," as much as I do.

It's the "steam mopped" that got me. I assume it's a super fancy mop, but I keep envisioning you surrounded by steam as you move about the humid kitchen.

No, it's not all that fancy. Here it is at Amazon. My mom had suggested I get one, and I have a ceramic tile floor that's a pain to keep clean. It tears up Swiffer pads. But this works pretty well; the floor still needs a scrubbing now and then but this is a pretty low-stress way of keeping things reasonably clean in the interim.

Wrote 700 words tonight for Abuse Memoir. Now have over 5000 word count. Haven't hit the third chapter. *sigh*

Finished another story tonight. :D Another tale in my TMA time travel series.

Well, I finally accomplished my long running goal of submitting this damn chapter. I need to learn how to not be an obsessive re-writer.

Must. Not. Continue. To edit.

Must accept the fact that I will never be truly happy with anything I write in any vocation in life.

Sigh.

I have to say, though, that submitting a story when I haven't been able to vote on other stories for days is a bit depressing, ya know?

ETA: OK, so maybe these bad gateway errors are a good thing. They just stopped me from editing some more.

It'll be fine. :) Trust me -- the writer obsesses a bit more than the reader, and I say that as someone who always finds something to tweak/edit in my own stuff, to the point that my husband says he'll take the early stuff away from me. ;)

Hemingway gets the tequila, but the early work gets the worm.

Spent the evening inventing clever bombs and devices to seriously piss off the cops in my tale. Like...mortaring cop cars with Dixie cups filled with turds. Use a high pressure air compressor connected to a steel tube.

Hopefully I can find some writing time today. I decided to look through the submitted story again this morning around five when the kidlet woke up (and good thing... there were some story continuity mistakes I'd missed), and had all sorts of good ideas for the next chapter. I want to get them down while I remember them.

<unrelated complaining>

But man, I'm tired. Everyone told us that the moment the kidlet started preschool she'd get sick. I believed them, but I didn't expect the colds to start just from visiting the place! Poor little thing, full of snot and waking up every two hours.

Then she gave us the colds, breaking our years-long streak of not getting sick at home. My sympathy for her has waned a bit.

Yeah, but see, that's what the rational part of my brain says. The irrational part seems to be in control when a keyboard is involved.

Aw, man, that's no fun. Believe me, I've been there. They always told us with colds to go with cool air humidifiers and things like that. Could also put a pillow under her pillow or mattress to prop her up a bit. I have to say I was kind of put out when they stopped making the cold meds for kids that age, but what can you do.

Well then, obviously you need voice recognition software for your input. ;)

My sympathies to those with children just starting school, or babies with colds. Well do I remember.

But I finally finished Ch 4 of "A New Birth of Freedom" and submitted it to Grandmaster dweaver999 for licensing. What a long road this has been!

Yay for you! :)

I have been fixing up R&B5 and 6 -- my beta reader suggests my sex scenes are a bit... same, and he has a point. So I will change up a bit. Who needs a bed? I may do a bit more tonight, may crochet. Not sure.

Okay, sex scene revised and hopefully improved.

And now, bed... but I found Strange Days... no, no. I will resist. Bed.

Was in WAL MART yesterday and hatched an idea for a Christmas Tree bomb. The killer in my story is clever and enjoys twisting the tail of the cops. One trick is exploding ornaments.

I probably will not get a chance to write today--but if I do, the goal is to finish the next installment of Desperate Measures.

Meanwhile, day 3 and counting of waiting for BBWC 06 to post.
Somehow it is now up.

Tat, are you saying that you are editing stories that you've already posted, and are re-posting? Honey, why are you doing that?

I don't think it's that, Syd. I think she's just finding things to tweak before it posts. I think. Lord knows I'm always doing that to my stories.

PL is correct; I edit them while they're pending.

I have posted edits in the past, though.

Ah, I see. Still, you ought to let it go. Post and move on to the next story or project.

I try, I try... just too much to do and sometimes it's easier in an odd way to keep looking something over. Although I have to say, once something's submitted, I leave it alone unless I find a glaring error.

Taty, hopefully not something I missed! *sob*. But Grandmaster dweaver999 licensed Ch 4 this afternoon, so I submitted Ch 4 this evening, and I don't want to look at it again. My writing goal is to take a few days off, and start working on something else.
