Write a controversial opinion

The Queen's Gambit - 2020
The Diplomat - 2023
The Tourist - 2022

Of course, what's  good is subjective, but these are all really good and worth the time to watch, in my opinion.

Honorable mentions to Killing Eve, and Orphan Black.
Chernobyl was good. I'll nominate:

The Expanse - 2015-22
Derry Girls - 2018-22, comedy about growing up in NI during the Troubles.
Slow Horses - 2022 to present, each series is only six episodes so not a huge commitment
Good Omens - at least the first series which follows the book. The second is a buildup to the third which now is unlikely to happen

Dept.Q for its characterisation and script, which supports a slightly slow plot. More of a what, how and whydunnit than a whodunnit.

Possibly controversial: some of the best TV drama recently has been from travel shows that were meant to be comedy or 'reality' - Romesh's Misadventures in Sarajevo or Uganda, or Race Across the World faced with a general strike or political upheaval causing them to reroute the contestants for their safety.

The Queens Gambit and The Diplomat, absolutely. Haven't seen the tourist. But my wife and love the other two.

"New Wave" feminism is certainly on life support.
Is it that, or is it new wave male victimhood, whining, and laziness is the issue but as always women are blamed?

"Men" say "Yeah, they say they don't need a man haha!"

reality: Are there any worth needing?

Very few. Forum is case in point.

There's nothing to discuss in that thread. It's a dictionary entry.
No, it brings up a potential discussion of why do people get it wrong, why is it acceptable, how did it get that way. Another example of an original word being morphed into another, etc.

But even if its a 'dictionary thread' all that's in there are jokes.

Unless you have certain status here, no thread is taken seriously.

There are only three true Star Wars movies, the first three and fuck you they're 4-6, all that 1-3 BS was a Lucas cash grab

The final three were an absolute abomination that like most modern cinema seemed hellbent on crapping on the originals that are the only reason for their existence.

Working more than 16 hours in a day should be double time, even for salaried people. (I may have worked like 21 hours Friday into Saturday. I have regrets.)
I remember those days, do not miss them. Sympathy heading your way.

Medicine is about treating. That's where the money is.

If they heal you, they can't bill you any more.

They don't want to heal you, so they keep practicing.

Working more than 16 hours in a day should be double time illegal
In an ideal world, lol.

But, yeah, a coworker came in early and made me go home when she found out how long I'd been there.

My longest stint was 24-hours. I've done it twice. The worst was on 24-hours, off 8, on 16-hours. I will never do that again.

I worked 23 1/2 hours once in the middle of 3 months where getting out in 16 hours felt alien. Company policy required a full 24 hours off if you worked 24 hours, so they herded us out like cattle at 23 1/2, sending management all over the warehouse tracking down people to make sure they got out in time. Standing there at the timeclock with a list, checking it off and saying, "See you in 8." Meanwhile: sanitation, maintenance, damage and returns, forklift drivers, office clerks, and basically any warm body in the building took over loading trucks, while upper management was doing Q.C.

The state had passed a $2 per pack tax increase on cigarettes, but made it so whatever you had in inventory wasn't subject to the tax. That meant every pack a store had on hand was going to make a guaranteed $2 profit as soon as the tax went into effect. Everybody spent every dollar they had on cigarettes for months. We would get a truck at 8 in the morning, and finally get the last of the cigarettes for it at 9 that evening. Loaded everything else down one side and stood around for hours to slowly drive pallets of cigarettes down the other when they showed up.

They literally hired armed guards in black SUVs to follow some of those trucks through their routes.

They gave us a $50 gift card after that summer of hell.

Corporate... Gotta... I don't even know, deal with them at times, I guess? God they suck, lol.

Stories like this make me want to go hug my boss.
I stayed 2 hours late a few weeks ago to take care of something. Got flowers and a $100 Amazon gift card the next day.
