Would it bother you if you had to shill someone, whether it be in a mall or in an open air market?

I certainly would.

It means to drive up the price of something by pretending to be an enthusiastic third party or by bidding on something with the cooperation of the auctioneer or consignor.

If you have two 'artists' trying to sell something, one pretends to be a satisfied customer, to back up the pitch.

I have never done that. However, I have been to auctions where i have increased bids for the hell of it. does that count?

Bad Fish! How about if the victim is a relative?

Probably not in that case, but it would depend on the relative. Sometimes if I'm trying to sell something, I profile the buyer to determine how much to charge. As far as I'm concerned, anything short of stealing and ripping off old people, kids and crazy people is fair game.
