Would anything drive you to leave the country?

Aspiring expats of literotica, sound off!

As I've mentioned before, I'm putting serious thought into leaving the country again. About a third of my family is in Canada, several are in South America, except for my mom and my sister's twins there really is no good reason for me to stay here.

If Trump does get elected, and if he really is as bad as some of you expect him to be, and if there really is no armed revolutionary struggle against him and his minions which might offer you a chance to die gloriously in battle against the fascist menace (there won't be), how bad would it have to get before you start looking for the exits? Where do you think you would like to go? If you can't leave, for physical or social or financial reasons, what would you do if you could?

i hear paris is lovely this time of year.

I would have dismissed this out-of-hand a mere week ago, but recent events are showing that the European Left apparently does still have some fight left in it. Tantalizing.

The American Left? America has no Left.
I was raised on and learned American ideals.
Always filled with pride seeing immigrants becoming citizens because they are the ones likely knowing American history better and who more embody the chase of the American dream. True Americans fight bullies, fascists, and criminals. I’m not going anywhere.
America is a nation built by losers who couldn't hack it in whatever country they came from. Running from your problems is as American as genocide and slavery baseball and apple pie. I did it once, I'll do it again.

Anyway, who do you plan on fighting, and how? There's no movement in this country, there's no vehicles for revolutionary action. We have guns, sure, but most of our side has a near-religious anathema regarding the use of them. And even if we didn't, the pigs and the fascists would always have more guns and more skill at using them. We could kill a lot of them, and we in turn could at least die with honor, but we wouldn't change anything.

And jfc did you literally link to a fucking Marvel film?

This is on me. I asked last night why you start open question threads just to spout your own nonsensical garbage thoughts. I’m deleting my post. GFY. And America was built off stolen land and slave labor. Coward. You are free to leave and follow your brand of American dream.

I hope no one else participates in this or any your other threads.

You want all your opposition to come from brainless right-wing rubes. You and all the other TV-watching zombies can't stand the thought of opinions existing outside your bourgeois Dep/Rep dichotomy.

It really is funny that I always trigger the libs on this forum far more than I do the rightists, or even the outright fascists. I've made friends on here with people that I once thought I might be shooting at in some point in the future. I see them as worthy opponents, which is more than what I see most libs as.

The reason why is obvious, of course. Liberals don't like me because a liberal is what I would be, if I were less honest with myself.

Liberalism is well and truly the handmaiden of fascism.
Nah. Torturing Deplorables seeking to ruin the U.S. is way too much fun for me to leave. 😎
Haha! Fair reason.

I'll admit it, I might be tempted to stay if I thought might live to see someone important burned alive. 😎

Preferably not me, of course. Although...🔥🔥🔥

Yes, even that would beat the horrors of death by nursing home.

Climate change is making Canada warmer and more habitable. I expect it will absorb a thick slice of the population leaving the desert states. The current government looks like all kinds of fucked, but that could be gone in a few years.

Wildfires, though.🙁

I'm not sure how well Canada's food production will hold up in the coming years. And they're already dealing with a huge population influx and housing shortage.

Called the front office, told them I won't be back in class when school reopens. :giggle:

Should be out by October. Part of me wants to stay for the election. The other part is, eh, fuck it.

Now that I'm actually going, I think I'm going to really miss Innsmouth-on-the-Lake. I can't say that I have many good memories of the place, but I don't have many bad ones either. Looking back, it really isn't all that bad here. Just enough schizos, drunks, and tweakers wandering around to keep the local prices down, but no so many as to become a nuisance.

Bon voyage et bon chance aussi. It takes huevos to do something like that. Whereas I don't consider myself tethered, I do have 6-8 people - blood kin and family/friends - whom I prefer to keep close. I don't really see anything getting quite so fucked up to require emigration, and I think I can persuade anyone who might come questioning to move along. You know, nothing to see here. But on the offhand chance . . . .

The others are too scared to go. And they can't read tea leaves, either.

I don't feel like learning another language or becoming the local economy in some Latin village with a gang leader as Mayor. No one bothers me here.

If over half the country vote for a sex abusing felon to be President, the place is fucked.

On the way out don't let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you.

If over half the country votes for a do nothing cackling ho the place is fucked.
Entirely predictable. The sex abuser felon is married to a woman who he was introduced to by Epstein while she was working in a titty bar (then encouraged his own daughter to be photographed in icky poses), therefore every Democratic woman has to be called a ho.

I'll be leaving more gracefully than I left in 2006. I probably won't shit on a US flag before I leave, this time.

(I was... not in a good place when I left in 2006. Honestly, I'm almost thankful that Bush got reelected. There's a very good chance that it saved my life.)

I left the US years ago. But not because of stupid politicians; they are everywhere. It was really just a personal desire of mine.
Yeah. I've known people who claim to have left because of politics, and it's still my semi-official story. But, truth of the matter is, I think it's very, very rare that people ever leave for that kind of reason alone.

There are plenty of wonderful, safe places in the Global South. It's not all crime and narcos, in fact most of it isn't.

It would take a lot. The election of a candidate I didn't vote for wouldn't be enough.
