One of the goals of Project 2025 which WILL be put in place if Trump is reelected is to BAN PORNOGRAPHY. One assumes that would include all of us her at L.com! Of course, there is a sinister agenda behind it. Its real target is transgender folks but all of us will be caught up in it. If you write for this forum and are a Trump supporter don't you DARE have the gall to act surprised when Trumps newly instituted national police force knock on YOUR door. Maybe we should start raising a defense fun for Laurel as a precaution. I'm NOT joking. As one of the most visited sites on the web and our visual and audio selection as well as just about every kink under the sun we are SURE to draw the ire of the Heritage Foundation which is the power behind project 2025. I would love to hear the justification of this from some of our more vociferous Trump supporters. If you DON'T comment you will prove to ALL of us what COWARDS you are! Vote Blue or your balls will turn blue!

Strictly speaking, this is a Heritage Foundation deal. If, however, he endorses it all directly, that will be very concerning. No doubt, there is overlap and that is concerning to me and any other smut writers. Not just for our own pursuits, but also for the other, very real issues impacted by this, from LGBTQ rights and free speech. Free speech really does it take hard from both sides, from online "hate speech" censors to anti-porn zealots. No shocks there, I guess.

Still, in the interests of being factual, this is a Heritage Foundation project and the Trump campaign is carefully treading a tightrope of not endorsing it while not condemning it. It certainly raises my hackles in any case. It just goes to show, as does Dobbs, that no transformative reforms and progress are secure from reversal at any point. Granted, in about four to six years, we'll have bigger worries, such as survival itself. Even so, yes, this is a noteworthy warning and it is much appreciated and worth taking seriously.

One thing to consider. Trump may already be suffering from dementia. Even if he doesn't institute Project 2025, his VP was basically hand picked by the Heritage Foundation to be Trump's number two and Vance is a very strong believer in Project 2025. Trump is also old. He will be three years older than Biden is now IF he completes his term. If you are sanguine about Trump not instituting Project 2025, you should still be terrified of J. D. Vance.

Maybe so, though I'm personally of the view that civilization won't survive that long. Just my own take. In five years, we'll probably all be looking for whatever scraps we can get just to put meals together and start fires to keep warm. Just my own personal take.

In any case, I am not a fan of either party and haven't been for a while. I was, at various points of my life, a Republican, a Libertarian, a Democrat (pretty far-left except on guns and a couple of other issues), and now an independent. My main, most consistent, unchanging position for decades now has been my antiwar stance, of course. I've been very anti-foreign regime wars since the mid aughts, mind you.

This is some real life tin foil hat stuff. :)
You can read about Project 2025 from any number of sources. They aren’t hiding it. The Heritage Foundation would rather destroy democracy than tolerate living in America where the predominant faith is not conservative evangelical Christianity. Their desire to rid America of porn comes from their own documents. They got Vance on the ticket and they have Trump’s ear. Maybe you should get your head out of your ass because if Trump wins L.com is not long for this world and many of us writers will be fined or jailed. Don’t believe it can’t happen!

🙄

Saint_Ann syndrome rears it’s ugly battered head…again.

😑

Side note:

Yes, DonOld’s bizarre LIES, the MAGAt’s bizarre cultish sycophancy, and Project 2025’s bizarre policy outline / blueprint for "the next Trump presidency" IS “some real life tin foil hat stuff”. Some might say all that “stuff” is downright weird…

The fearmongers are still looking for something that will stick. They had amazing success with fear in 2020.

Protecting internet porn becomes a moot point when there's no juice left to run the internet. Video uses much more than text, so lit could be OK for a decade.

Very true. 'Project 2025' is just another leftist propaganda scare tactic pretending to be a Trump thing.
Nope. Trump is just claiming he doesn't know anything about it because he knows it's unpopular. But it is inextricably linked to him via dozens of close associates who were involved in developing it. You are, though, right about one thing: it is scary.

This site was established in 1998. I know. I was here.

Since 1998, one of the consistent howls of anguish from the Left is how Republicans are going to shut down Lit.

Hey. Stupid. Stop flagellating that deceased equine.

They are simply not that competent.

They won't shut down Lit.

They can't

shoot

straight

So admitting you're an often banned poster. One whom Laurel has ousted many times.
Another self-own. Damn you Trumpers just can't help yourselves.
Thanks

No leftists there! 😆

What TST is doing here is what Republicans have been doing ever since Ronald Reagan said "There you go again": when our side tells the truth about their extremism, they just accuse us of fearmongering. It works precisely because the real truth about them so often is very, very scary.

I guess Lit posters could start jerking off to furniture magazines.

Aldous Huxley and George Orwell had a long debate about whether government force would be required to get people to initially give up major freedoms and submit to the state. Orwell thought government force would be required, and Huxley thought that people would give it up willingly through an electoral process. Maybe neither had it completely right.

Just look at what is happening here on Lit. We have MAGAts who are threatening armed revolution if we do NOT elect a tyrant whose base consists of Christian Nationalists who have already robbed women of their reproductive rights during the tyrant's first administration. And his followers want MORE clamping down on personal choices.

This is a scenario in which a large segment of the PEOPLE, not the government, are using threats of violence to force a majority to submit to the state. The only freedom these control freaks really care about is their freedom to own weapons so they can bully others.

The usual RWCJ suspects also say Democrats are exaggerating the grave threat Trump and the MAGAts pose to America and democracy, even as EVERY major REPUBLICAN VIP with an ounce of dignity is saying Trump and the MAGAts pose a grave threat to America and democracy.

Make it make sense…

Geez, what is it lately with all this "return to the Stone Age" nihilism? First Chenosoth, now you.

This post-apocalyptic meltdown scenario has been bandied about since 1964 when Goldwater ran for President (back then, though, it had a bit more relevance, Goldwater had an absolute nutjob of a VP candidate named Curtis LeMay who publicly promised to pre-emptively nuke anyone who disagreed with the United States)
