Would a Discord be a good Idea for the whole server or forum?

just curious to know if , yes, we can get a server wide discord where we can just chat with everyone.

The forum rules would prohibit posting something like a Discord channel and trying to redirect folks to an alternate site. You could certainly create a Discord channel and use it to communicate offsite with your friends, but mass posting it here wouldn’t be allowed and probably wouldn’t work the way you think, anyway. Many many people who chat here aren’t looking to move that elsewhere.

I agree, ToPleaseHim, but one can't deny that a classic forum is something from the past, although I still like the concept and it probably is the best for the Lit community. (The upgrade to a new and more modern version was, in my opinion, very much needed.)

That leaves us with the Lit Chat that is, to put it mildly, a relic from the past and should be changed by a more modern version, including images, adding cam-support and multiple cam-rooms and so on... Call it discordification, if you want.

Of course this needs to be done by Lit itself and not by outsiders without the explicit approval of Lit.

Generally speaking Lit (certainly the story pages) is 'old', although some may call it 'vintage'. I would like a more modern look, but others may like tradition.

I actually like this place but I do wish there was more instant messaging and ways to meet people

For something that is such an outdated relic, there sure are a lot of daily visitors to the site. 🙄

Surely it makes sense that the owners of this site wish to attract traffic to, well, this site, and not to redirect elsewhere. If the features available here do not meet your needs, there is likely a site that does. I know Lit Chat is always hopping when I pop in over there, and the busy forums here remain busy.

Some of us are here specifically because it is a message board and not a modern social media option, and I know I wouldn’t partake in video chatting with randoms here. My face and that level of vulnerability is reserved for people I’ve gotten to know and trust on the boards (and once we are at that point, we tend to Skype). If you’re looking for camming and video chatting, there’s surely a site that offers that, although I highly doubt it will be free.

Well, you just proved my point. If you want to have a more, say intimate, chat with somebody you go to Kik, or Skype, or Gmail etc... At Lit chat people switch to unsee (or others) just to send a picture over. It would be nice if one could do that without switching servers. And one could use designated 'rooms' for that, so that no one would fall in by accident.

Feel free to design the site you’d rather use, I suppose. I greatly prefer Lit the way it is. The fact that I have a handful of Lit folk, trusted Lit folk, on other socials where my name is fully visible (several on Facebook and Instagram where much more than my name is exposed) does not actually prove your point that more exposure is needed here at this site. I talk with hundreds of people here, and I talk with a dozen or so elsewhere.

Did you catch the uproar when people saw how easy it was to connect to socials from the recent Lit updates? This is not something that most would welcome.

The anonymity here is a huge, some or many might not be able to express themselves they way they would like over a vocal platform like discord. I am lucky that my partner encourages me to come here and contribute to Lit, my stories may not be the best but I have more freedom under a pseudonym and cannot be judged by my voice. There are other factors like anxiety etc that must be considered.

just my opinion :)

There has been a Discord channel for Literotica people for over 4 years now. Some of the more explicit BDSM posters would start here and then continue the thread there. Some of them are now exclusively fetlife and rarely seen in here as well, but there are a few that will continue over there from time to time.

You could equally argue that there is probably some form of channel for literotica interested people on most social media and group chat mediums, so I guess go looking and you will find, or follow the hints in the threads if someone takes it offline and you will easily work out where everyone disappeared to.

Having this site is Great I have used it since 2003-2004 and I love it So much a more modern communication would be nice for posting tech support updates and bug reports that is my only reason I would agree to a discord server for that alone. Only.

based on my experience on here i can only agree with TPH except for one point: the chat needs some improvement technically so it stays running smoothly
