World Cup Thread

It's almost a shame we won today because playing the reserve team against Sweden will look like we are resting players now ;)

Huh. Looks like Sweden all over again.
And fortunately, I was wrong. You did wnat we didn't manage: Snap out of the coma and score.

Congrattos, Anglonesians.

Liar - please disregard the post above yours in view of your gracious comments re: Anglonesians (as long as you can assure me that word is not rude for something) :D

Well, the warmup is ovah, The Game is on. Me and a six pack is heading down the hall to a way bigger TV than mine. Cheerio!

England 2 - T&T 0 Final

Goals:
England
21. CROUCH Peter (83')
4. GERRARD Steven (91+')

Tatelou, it is your moment of joy. However, I must take you to task here. T&T are small islands, thus their players must be small. Then, England turns this whacking big striker loose on the little guys and it is not fair!

Crouch isn't big, he's a long streak of piss.

I wouldn't quite describe Owen that way.

LOL!!!!!!

Poor Owen, I bet his confidence is really shattered now, after being taken off yet again.

Well done, Sweden! :D

(Good old Freddy, eh? Those Arsenal lads aren't 'alf doing well in this World Cup. ;) )

As for Tuesday...

BRING IT ON!!!

HUH! I was thinking "the god damn Limey's cant get it together" but was much happy when the lazy asses scored twice :D Their performance was almost as bad as the BRAZILIANS!

LOL! Hopefully somehow we'll both bumble it through to the final - which we're both saving our best for. ;) :D

Argentina 6 - Serbia & Montenegro 0 Final

Goals:
Argentina
18. RODRIGUEZ Maxi (6')
5. CAMBIASSO Esteban (31')
18. RODRIGUEZ Maxi (41')
9. CRESPO Hernan (78')
11. TEVEZ Carlos (84')
19. MESSI Lionel (88')

Analysis: In the technical language of footy, Argentina kicked the feces out of Serbia & Montenegro.

Netherlands 2 - Cote de Ivorie 1

Goals:
Netherlands Cote de Ivorie
17. VAN PERSIE Robin (23') 14. KONE Bakary (38')
9. VAN NISTELROOIJ Ruud (27')

Holland did very well, I just can't believe they let the Ivory Coast score on them! If I heard the announcer right, it's the first time they've let someone score on them in a World Cup game in years.

P.S. A little attachment just for fun! :D

Is Sweden the least exciting team in the tournament?
0-0 tie
1-0 win?

In the end it's the three points that count. (Every manager's interview fallback)
I'm so sick of that one. lol.

But even going by it, Sweden has 4 points, so, there are plenty of less "exciting" teams. ;)

I agree. The score hardly ever reflects the game even in a 6-0 drubbing.

If your team fights hard and plays well (league clubs anyway) you come away feeling you watched a good match, final score notwithstanding.

A good indicator (I've found) is the celebration after scoring. Half-hearted player celebrations generally indicate half-hearted playing. (England in both matches so far).

It will be interesting to see the celebrations on Tuesday. (They'll be very muted after the third goal we score with no reply ;) )

(pre-result excuses: We rested our best players. It was too warm. We want to play Germany in the finals. What can you expect without Rooney. etc. etc)

Depends on how you define exciting. They keep their fans guessing until the very last minute. Good sense of drama there. ;)
