I worked for a film production company for two years once as their accountant. When you take in the production costs, overhead, duplication etc. a cassette cost about $3.00 amortized over the full production. That cost climbs somewhat because of returns and so on but nothing like the $50.00 - $70.00 per copy they sold for.
I agree bootleg is stealing, but the film companies aren't being too honest either
(And I know how much carpenters, stage crew, sound engineers, etc make)
