How was everyone’s New Year?
What did you get up to and how did you bring it in? big party, quiet night, family time, friends, or something crazy and spontaneous?
Did anyone do any New Year traditions or have any superstitions? grapes under the table for luck, pouring molten lead into water (Latvian NYE tradition) , first-footer, manifesting, jumping into the sea, banging pots and pans, anything like that?
Do you have any resolutions for the year ahead?
I for one, spent half the night with the fam, I cooked beef bourguignon (hairy bikers recipe), polished off a bottle of champagne then went to a friends who was hosting: many cocktails and games of cards were played and then we all melted lead and poured the hot liquid into cold water. Whatever shape the lead makes is meant to signal what your year ahead will look like
For example:
My shape was very circular with little sharp spikes coming off of it. I’m still yet figuring out what this means
- Ring / circle… marriage, commitment
- Boat / wave / airplane etc
- … travel, change
- Animal… traits you’ll need (strength, caution, personality of a new partner…)
- Sharp or broken shapes…. obstacles, conflict, instability

I had a quiet one, saw in the year with a drink and tried to be positive about the year ahead. I remember the mad nye house parties I went to when I was younger, the best was a pop up party in Greenwich tunnel, mad night!
There’s something really underrated about a quiet NYE and going into the year with the intention of being positive rather than forcing a “big night.” Pop-up party in the Greenwich tunnel though…that sounds mental!!! if I hear of another one I shall be inviting you and we can relive some of those memories

I had the responsible new year celebration. I worked the overnight shift. So i organized a little potluck with my coworkers. I made a mulled cider and brought a non alcoholic bubbly to pop at midnight

your co workers must love working with a chef with all the bits you make you’re such a hard worker jaws, those breaks and concerts you have planned will be so fucking worth it by the time they come around… and hmmm actually maybe the death spike/ slap of death ring could be worn as part of an outfit for one of those rock shows

That 12 hours of sleep sounds like you really, really needed it. My kind of HEAVEN. I love a good long sleep and naps though I rarely have the chance but there really is nothing better than hibernating after eating a load!

following a really fun and long night of what constituted of sex, red wine and more sex, my lover at the time went to buy us more wine and left me in bed. I wanted to make sure he knew exactly how I was waiting in that bed for him to return. I didn’t send him the picture though until the next day after he had dropped me home. He did, in fact pick me up again that same evening and took me out to fuck me on the bonnet of his car.
