What is the big deal? Is it just fun to bash it like, say the fucking Yankees and Delaware and Wal-Mart? I've been using it for at least three years now--it's what came loaded on the laptop--and I don't notice any issues at all. After a couple days of getting used to it, I just...do shit on my computer and never even become aware of what OS I'm running. Why does everyone bitch about it so much?

When I upgraded my old PC from Windows Vista to Windows 7, it started going about 40% faster.

It's an incredible resource hog. Win 7 is much faster. Hell, I think XP was faster.

Take a look at the processes that Vista runs compared to Windows 7...don't forget to check the little box - Show processes from all Users.

Okay, it's a resource hog. But I, as a user, don't notice that. My laptop is as fast as I could ask for, unless it's doing something like downloading updates or scanning for viruses or whatever. I don't notice it being slower than XP on the previous box, though that may be because it has twice the RAM of the last one.

I do not know. My wife uses it and loves it.

She sure as hell does not want Windows 8.

If it's a laptop, why would all users matter? I have no problem with my desktop or lappy with Vista. Work computers are all XP PRO.

Well there are four users on your laptop...you, SYSTEM, LOCAL and NETWORK. Why do you think it's so fucking slow?

No one said they were so fucking slow.

Liar did...his was 40% slower on Vista than Windows 7.

And just think...if you didn't have 60 some odd processes flooding memory and your processor...your's to might be 40% faster than it is now.

But is 40% faster than nearly instantaneous important? I really never notice any lag at all.

Well, unless you run two exact same machines side by side you probably wouldn't notice a difference. Although I do notice a lag when Vista wants to perform some internal fucktion that somehow takes precedence over mine.

Fair enough. I don't notice it being slower than my last box, but as I pointed out, this one has a lot more RAM. And hasn't every Windows machine always had those occasional lags when they were doing something and caused a bit of lag? I seem to remember it more with the XP box than this one.

Actually, my XP box was the only one that never lagged out...of course I did have only essential processes running. Got the number of processes down to 14 total on my XP Pro Box. Could never get that low on my Vista laptop.

I loved vista.
Then I loved xp.
Now I'm loving windows 7.
To me, it's like driving a car.... if I turn the key and the car starts, all is good :D

I'm running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. It's by far the best OS M$ has produced, IMO. I stole it from TPB, Bill Gates has enough money.

Vista as it was at the time of introduction is not the same as the Vista that we have today. Much of Vista was reused in Win7 and I'd be willing to bet that a lot of code is shared between the two so that when updates and fixes are made to 7 they are also made to Vista. Vista is quite solid today.

XP came before Vista and was the most stable MS OS until 7. Windows 7 was built on Vista (essentially Vista without the bugs) which itself came from the Longhorn OS project.

Everyone here is pretty much right on. Vista is junk compared to XP or Windows 7.

I have one computer with Windows 7 on it, and I've left it that way, but I think I prefer XP, although that's probably just because I'm more used to it.

Also, I have a developer's license that lets me install it on 10 machines for free.

So hey... free OS.

Yeah, I got it back to front.
In my defence, I have had some major painkillers!
