I do realise that not everybody celebrates Thankgiving. But all this talk of the "BB Family" got me to wondering..... If we'll be together for Thanksgiving?

I am thankful for many of you, and your friendships. I, for one, will definitely be here! (atleast part of the day hehe)

Maybe...after I spend it with my immediate family...you might catch me on here late that night...or not, since I can't stay awake past 9 pm anymore...I need a man to keep me busy.

I will be here for a while also. Really, I like most of you guys more than certain members of my own family.

I make a mean pecan pie, so I'll bring that!

I live alone and have no family, so I will probably be here. Eating my Turkey falvoured Hotdogs.

I know this might sound dumb but when is thanksgiving been English , we don't celebrate it .

Hi Sammy ;)

well... British are invited too!!

Always the last thursday in November

You know, it's when the indians and the pilgrams sat down and feasted together *grinz*

Andy, U be the indian and I'll be the pilgram ok?? hehe

Thanks Savage kitten , *sticking Feather in my hair* so what do ya get up to at a thanksgiving bash ?

well usually

you cook and cook and cook the whole day and night before. and finish cooking on thanksgiving day. Lots and lots of family comes over and everyone pigs out. stuffin themself until they will pop on baked or roasted whole turkey. (some people fry it in peanut oil), baked ham, stuffing, cranberries, vegetables, dinner rolls, sweet potatoes, candied yams, mashed potatoes and gravy, etc etc etc and lots of desserts and pies.

Lots of american football on TV as well as parades. (that'll be my puter time haha)

Sounds quite like what we have for a christmas dinner without the candied yams .
So when's the the food served :)or do we have to wait till the last Thursday in November

Didn't know it was almost thanksgiving till you mentioned it.
I'll be here for it:) Never liked turkey that much specially
if it's dry. When I have gone to thanksgiving dinners I always
make Bakced potatoe pancakes. They are sooo scrumptious.
The recipe to make them is simple and they are good anytime:)
It's kinda like potatoe lasagna hehe.
Basically you make some fresh potatoes add itallian bread
crumbs and spices...mix in some grated parmesian cheese.
Then oil the bottom of a pan and put a layer of the potatoes
down. Then you put a layer of matzerella cheese another layer
of potatoes...nother layer of cheese nother of potatoes and
top it with more cheese! It is sooo yummy grin.
I love potatoes and make them in many ways but that is my
favorite and maybe some of you will try it for this turkey
day. If you do I hope you enjoy it and if you have any
questions just ask:)

MMMMmmmmmmm......

Wolfy....that dish sounds scrumptious...almost as scrumptious as you *wink* ;)

Thanksgiving...

An explanation for the non-Americans on the BB.

Americans have such short attention spans they need a holiday to break up the time between All Hallows Eve and Xmas.

It is set in such a way to remind the people that Xmas is only a month away, so they don’t forget to spend more at the stores.

Pps Don't blame me; it is my sense of humor.

Speaking for myself, you pegged it exactly on the head Kitten Eyes,,, I have way more fondness for the folks here than 75% of my family,,,

'cept of course for that really cute second cousin that I met for the first time last year,,, good thing that she's overseas,,, or we could possibly get in some serious trouble.

This is my favorite holiday to cook for,,, and I try not to have the same old thing every year,,, my salute to tradition is a cranberry relish and a lemon ice box pie ( no,,, not mixed together )

I ALWAYS cook wayyyyy too much,,, so you folks just saddle up your favorite mode of transportation and head on over,,, dinner is four-ish

The Canadian Thanksgiving is this Monday, October 9. I think that's a better time than the end of November. Spaces out the family time a bit. Also works well for students attending school away from home.

And yes, I'm sure I'll be here at some point in the day (or night).

Two Questions for those across the pond

What is Canadian Thanksgiving based on? I mean, is it the pilgrim fathers stuff or another lot. I forget how we invaded Canada, I can only remember how we invaded America.

Second question is - Do the 'Indians' or Native Americans celebrate the arrival of their ethnic cleansers?

Havoc has to work on holidays so i might be here sometime...

But you have me :( or don't I get unchained from the cleaning that day??? (LOL) sorry had to say it.

Look I'll be here if you'll have me, being an Aussie we don't celebrate either. I make mean Cream Puffs, just don't let me near real food I burn it. I'm the one that will be by the Microwave warming things up :)

"PING", Is that the microwave finishing Nicole ;).

I like Thanksgiving! I like being together with my family and all my nieces and nephew! I like that my mom still does all the cooking and we go to her house! Oops... well, that last one probably has a lot to do with it. My contribution each year is two home made pumpkin pies, crust and all. None of this store bought crap. I make a mean pumpkin pie, don't know why I don't make them more often.

But yes, I'm sure I'll stop in here looking for the "Happy Thanksgiving, tell us what you're thankful for" thread sometime that day.

p.s. By the way, Christmas shopping should be complete before Thanksgiving. That way when I spend the day after Thanksgiving shopping at my favorite mall, I am usually buying stuff for ME! Much more fun.
