Why You Make 59 Cents

Hey BFW - I tried to have a barbecue on my deck last week and a big thunderstorm drove us inside - was that caused by Republicans?
No, of course not.

It was the result of the static electricity created by idle Union workers playing dominoes at the nearby car factory. In addition, their constant collectivist yawns created a low pressure front system which mixed with the hot air from the friction of poor, overworked, sorely put upon corporate execs fighting evil U.S. Government regulations.

:)

Oh, and lest I forget to serve just desserts to the deserving, Lisa Denton's commentary contained more ignorance and stupidity than a whole thread of most baby socialists.

Walmart, in general, saves the average consumer on the order of $2500.00 a year over the Mom & Pop, or the "Union Labor only" variety stores of the past.

The American people are truly smart enough to recognize a good buy when they see on and Walmart is just that.

And outsourcing, gads woman, even in the 50's Japanese Camera's and German Cuttlery were at a premium even though we just beat the shit out of both in WW2.

And then, lo a behold, Union Labor in the Auto and Steel Industries decided they bould blackmail the American public into supporting their demands for increased wages and benefits and guess what? Anerican businessmen went overseas, sent engineers and planners, built factories, trained workers, improved the local economy by hiring people, building roads and other infrastructure, build an automobile, ship it halfway around the world and sell it cheaper than what Detroit Union workers would work for.

Go figure.

Not only that it was a better product than Detroit Iron.

It is called the 'free market' sweetums, works everywhere, has enriched the world, brought better and cheaper products, raising the quality of life of everyone involved.

How many times do you have to be shown the example of forced labor and a controlled market, aka the now defunct Soviet Union, to at least get a glimmer of light in your dark head?

Inquiring people wonder...

Amicus...

I can afford to buy any vehicle in the world and I refuse to buy a Japanese or a German vehicle. I don't care how much better than are or perceived to be better. I still hold a grudge from WWII (lol).

The Japs and the Germans tried to murder us all. They still don't like us. They barely tolerate us. Now, they make many of their cars in the US. Still, I won't buy them.

I'll stick with my American machine or English made car.

You keep making extreme examples...socialism and communism. All I'm writing about is how the Republican Party has never been for the average Joe. The Republican Party has ignored the economy rather giving money we don't have to the military to go start another war as a diversion because there is no money in fixing the American economy. There's no money in giving the average guy or gal a good paying job with benefits.

There is money for them to line their pockets in doling out big government contracts for armaments. There is money to be made for people like Chaney. When these politicians leave office, they receive their big reward with a cushy job and a fat salary.

We'd lock a black man away for 20 years for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family. Granted, we've improved over the years. Years ago, in the South, we would have hung him for stealing a loaf of bread.

Yet, a Republican Congressman is given a medal for stealing millions of dollars from me and you. I'm tired of the Republicans lying to me, stealing my money, and passing laws that help their rich friends.

I want someone who is going to help the average person. I want someone who is not going to lie to me and who is going to tell me the truth. I want my government to guarantee me the healthcare coverage that so many other lesser countries have and the US still doesn't.

I want my country to feed the poor and shelter the United States homeless before they dare go overseas and give my tax money to foreigners to rebuild their fucking country that they bombed with the bombs that I paid for, when that country has more than enough money to pay for their own reconstruction.

I want my country to take care of the veterans who have given their limbs and lives to their country. Too many times when these vets return home they are denied benefits, healthcare, and jobs.

WTF! Are you kidding me? Well, if what I wrote above is socialist, then call me a socialist. I don't care.

I want the country that our forefathers envisioned when they wrote the constitution. I don't want so lawyer interpreting what he thinks they meant and spinning the truth to his benefit for money.

I want America to take care of Americans. Because the Republican party has put this country in debt, they've sucked the middle class dry and anyone who cast a vote for a Republican is an asshole.

Hey BFW - I tried to have a barbecue on my deck last week and a big thunderstorm drove us inside - was that caused by Republicans?

Actually, it was. Had they not reversed the clean air act, you would have had blue skies.

Thank you for making the point about how the Republicans are even responsible for bad weather. I had no idea you were a liberal Democrat, Roxanne Appleby.

Yes, you are absolutely correct in your affirmation that the Republican Party ruined your barbeque. There you go, another example of the Republicans fucking everything up, including the weather.

Good job, Roxanne.

No, of course not.

In addition, their constant collectivist yawns created a low pressure front system which mixed with the hot air from the friction of poor, overworked, sorely put upon corporate execs fighting evil U.S. Government regulations.

:)

That's very true. Had the Republicans not put them out of a job, a rain cloud never would have formulated over your barbeque deck, Roxanne.

"Fucking Republicans. It's unAmerican when you can't even barbeque meat."

I want America to take care of Americans. Because the Republican party has put this country in debt, they've sucked the middle class dry and anyone who cast a vote for a Republican is an asshole.

Yeah, well, in the '80's America was for sale and the Arabs bought up huge parcels of primo land. Matter of fact, American borrows money from them. You just have to take a walk down Boston's most expensive street, where I live, Commonwealth Avenue to see that house after house is owned by a foreign, usually, middle eastern company.

Osama Bin Ladin's brotehr was living in a 2 million dollar condo in Charlestown, across the bridge
from Boston before the FBI squirreled him away during the night before locals killed him and his family.

Much of the shit that Wal-Mart sells is made in China and is of very low quality.

Yet, America is in a rush to realize George Orwell's dream of 1984 of one gas station, Exxon, one place to buy everything, Wal-Mart, and one bank, Bank of America.

What happened to the monopoly of laws of 1939. Mom and Pop stores have been replaced by the Mall of America. This is not good.

What you said has to be taken in context of the fact that Americans are not even allowed to own stuff in many countries overseas - we can't own 51% of a Japanese corporation, for instance.

American jobs flow overseas and almost nothing flows back. Nobody offshores here.

As our tech jobs and biotech jobs go overseas, there is no new emerging job boom coming to absorb the throngs of new people coming into the job market. There is, however, an explosion of low paying service jobs. And as such, American student enrollment in the sciences is in the tank. The market has spoken, and it has echoed back at itself: geeks only get hired in India, so fewer people want to study to be a geek anymore. And then Bill Gates bitches about there being a lack of American graduates. Go figure.

And now the gruesome consequences of selling out America are coming home; China has threatened to financially nuke us by selling off our dollars, and as Handprints said, they have sterilization accounts to blunt the damage this could do to themselves. Saudi Arabia owned over $600 billion in US debt years back. It's probably in the trillions now.

As such, due to this globalist market bullshit, America's leaders are now forced to do the bidding of foreign powers.

China does not allow democracy, its people murder their baby girls at an astounding rate, and we Americans are participating in funding this madness. We have propelled a dictatorship orders of magnitude worse than Nazi Germany to superpower status.

China's prominence in the global market, at our expense, has totally ruined the credibility of a democratic, free state. Who else will become like America now that everyone knows that the path to prosperity in the global market is lined by unrestricted industrial pollution, low standards of living, and the suppression of democracy? Democracy brings workers' rights and workers' rights makes for an expensive level of business overhead - businesses inevitably will all flock to the hell holes where labor is super cheap and they can do whatever they want to the environment.

Global free trade means the death of freedom, breathable air and drinkable water. Ask the Chinese if you don't believe me...

Oh, wise one, apparently, you didn't read my early post where I made a similar point about how Americans are unable to own companies on foreign soil nor are they even allowed to buy property or land.

Yet, we give our country away to the highest bidder. Moreover, we protect them and subsidize them and educate them and feed them, clothe them, and shelter them.

What about us! What about those who were born here?

I wanted to expand on that point. I forgot to add that there is no such thing as free trade when we let foreigners have carte blanch at us while they have all kinds of protections on their markets. It's like allowing steroid users to play in the NBA.

And what about us? People like Amicus say to hell with us. This country means nothing to the likes of him - all that matters is what wealth can be extracted from America's working class to send to the power elite.

Well, we did once hit a point where there was nothing left to extract. We're headed that way now.

I'm looking forward to the day when money once again means nothing and the power elite are left utterly barren and lacking for a way to prey on others...

You can blame President Ronnie for the free trade markets when he opened the doors to Mexico and many companies in California and Texas moved across the border to pay $8.00 a day wages instead of $16.00 an hour.

Then, all Hell broke loose when GM started making cars in Canada and Brazil. Reebook making their sneakers in Banglidesh and Polo making clothes in Sri Lanka. Now, it's China getting the lion share of our generous free trade policy.

Meanwhile, they protest in Korea and refuse to buy our beef.

You seem to have compassion for union workers denied artificially inflated wages. But you have no compassion to spare for shoppers, who can only afford to shoe their children at Wal-Mart prices? Mighty selective compassion, in my opinion.

Between the combined ignorance and hatred of La Jackass and La Boston Bean, it feels like swimming through the muck on this thread.

Perhaps just a brief overview of American History would help, but in your cases, your hatred and belief is so strong, I doubt it.

First off, one of the few legitimate powers of the Amerrican government is to defend the sovreignty of the nation and its interests by funding a military. This has been part and parcel of US foreign policy since the nation began. It has also waxed and waned with the politicaL party in power, with democrats usually weakening the military and the republicans fulfilling the constitutional requirements.

However, I am not favoring either party as I detest both.

There is also the matter of international trade policy that you idiots bat around in ignorance. The function of both the military and the diplomatic efforts of the US Government has always been to facilitate trade and exchange of ideas and goods between the people of the world.

Democrats, controlled by the labor unions, prefer a closed, non competitive society wherein they can dictate prices and availability of goods and services for their own benefit. Republicans, on the other hand, are mostly in favor of free trade that permits market forces to work on a global basis, something that scares the hell out of the dictatorial left who want to control everything.

You both sound like you are afraid of open competition and are probably the type that tried to get a 'no winner' status for kids baseball, so as not to disappoint the losers...and...there are always winners and losers in the real world, like it or not.

The real point is, in your abject ignorance and blind faith in soc\ial control of free people, you overlook completely the function of this government, which is to protect and defend the rights of individuals and associations of individuals alike (read corporations), not be 'big brother' to the so called unclass and underprivileged.

Just leave the the hell alone and they will do fine. They built a pretty damned good country when they were set free to tame a continent, now, didn't they?

Amicus..the American, and proud of it...

Like I said, you're all about selling America out to the highest bidder. You put the market above and beyond democracy and human rights. If slavery existed, you would be right there, buying and selling.

You seem to have compassion for union workers denied artificially inflated wages. But you have no compassion to spare for shoppers, who can only afford to shoe their children at Wal-Mart prices? Mighty selective compassion, in my opinion.
Artificially inflated wages? Why is it that you blame the union workers for inflated wages and you never mention the CEOs who get million dollar payouts while their company is going under?

And guess what happened when you blew the union wages out the window - you also blew their standard of living out the window as well. That means less money flowing through the economy.

If you think that's not something to worry about, consider the mass die off of retail chains going on as we speak.

When you cut wages, you cut consumer spending. Guess what happens when you cut consumer spending...

You are such an abyssmal idiot, la jackass, unions, like the old fashioned european guilds are a dying breed and properly so.

Youse guys...why not have the courage you are collectivists who want the state to own the means of production, all factories, all mines, all business and then assign you jobs to do and pay you what they want to?

At least you would have a position to defend instead of attacking freedom on a non stop basis, christ, even the old timers here tire of your pathetic attack mode.

But then, you never have displayed the courage of your convictions, if you have any aside from the negative anyway...

who cares...

Amicus, you so remind me of those cartoonish people in Robocop who wanted to buy and sell Detroit City.

Citizens own stock in America.. the rest, ah, fuck 'em, in Amicus' universe.

The problem with Amicus' universe is we've already tried that and it has epic failed.

Amicus, you are one of the last of your breed; when you die, your ideology will die with you. And you write like someone who feels extinction breathing down the back of your neck with its cold breath as its ivory, bony fingers grip your shoulders.

The only question is, will your ideas go into the night BEFORE they bring America down AGAIN? One can only hope.

As I said and repeat, you don't have the courage of your convictions to even state your position on anything.

The concept of human individual freedom as codified and enumerated in the basic documents of this country will long outlast your wimpy concept of egalitarianism, but like the cold, your type will always be around to criticize that which you cannot accomplish.

Second handers and parasites are always the same.

Amicus...

As I said and repeat, you don't have the courage of your convictions to even state your position on anything.
You lack the reading comprehension to understand my very clearly stated positions.

That's exactly what they said when they said only land owners could vote. Guess what happened to that.

That's exactly what they said when they de-regulated the banks. Guess what happened to that.

That's exactly what they said when they tried to stop social security from coming into existence. Looks like your "basic concepts", as you see them, got their butts kicked again.

Egalitarianism has been on the forward march throughout American history, dumbass. Fact of history.

Second handers and parasites are always the same.
That would be your industrialist masters who rely on Americans to buy your crap but won't hire Americans to build it.

You and your band of raging nutcases can't even get rid of welfare. You're totally fucked if your next goal is to attack egalitarianism as I see it.

Amicus...

And you, my bitter friend, cannot have a political discussion without calling names and making personal attacks.

I'm done defending my argument against someone so angry.

"Bye."

Ah, bostonbeanie, I am not bitter at all and the name calling is not really for you, I could care less about your or la jackasses opinions, what I do wish to accomplish, by the use of pejoriatives, is to point out the 'true believer' status of your negativism to others who read.

You are comjparable to the bible thumpers and the religiious zealots you so often criticize, spouting your marxist propaganda, it is time someone pointed out how really shallow and boring you are and that your collectivist antics are truly laughable and need to be guffawed at, like a jack ass, heehaw, yall,,,

None of you twats will ever come out and stand by, identify and defend your desire to enslave the entire population and remove all individual rights for your glorious greater good...and thas the rub....people begin to understand why you wont defend...they know you cant...

cheers, ya twats...

Amicus....

You know, when money no longer has value, wealth doesn't mean shit. It's the workers of the world who hold sway then.

And it was laissez-faire that brought America to the point of money meaning nothing at all.

You want to know why America is great? Because we balance capitalism with socialism. If you disagree with that, then let's see you MOVE to a country without any socialism and see how long you last. What? You can't walk that talk? Awwww. Back to the drawing board for you, mon ami. :D

Actually, there is no country without any socialism. We're probably the most capitalist nation on the planet, yet we have the Federal Reserve System (which I would toss on the scrap heap of history, if I could), Amtrak, Conrail, a billion government programs and entitlements, the TVA, and the FDIC.

Even the Japanese have socialized medicine, and they are probably almost as capitalist as we are.

That doesn't mean that I condone socialism. But, like it or not, every nation has some form of it.

I wouldn't return to the Victorian morals of the 19th century, or the racism, but there are times when I wish for the smaller, less centralized government of back then, and wonder if the right side won the Civil War after all. After all, the right to secede could be a useful ace in the hole for the various states tired of DC's meddling.

States rights was a joke in the South. They sure didn't respect them during the war. In any case, we made a huge mistake keeping the South; they've been dragging America down for almost 150 years since.

I wish we could found a desert island and send the no-socialism folks there and see how long they last.

Oh, and there is some justice to both sides of this argument. Some sacrifices a lot of women in careers don't make that they should, but some are frankly unreasonable and even men should balk at them.

On the other hand, we're programmed by Nature and society (one of the rare issues where the two agree) to be providers, no matter if the women are making a buck, too, or not. For most of us, if we don't bring home some of the bacon, we might as well be dead. There is some right in that mindset, though it goes to excess at times. But I can see why it's there, for the same reason that men fear a reputation for cowardice more than they fear being killed in combat. When you are dead, your troubles are over. When you are disgraced, they have just begun.

Women aren't programmed with that same touchy sense of honor and duty about provision for the family, financially speaking. They might do it for some degree of practical necessity, or fear of being at a man's mercy economically speaking, but not because of a sense of obligation inherent to their sex.

That's not to knock women. It's simply to summarize the different mindsets.

For men, work is more or less mandatory. That is still not true in every sense for women, in the professional sense of the word.

Damn, Severus, you hit the exhaust port, scored the brass ring and got the gold.

Men are EXPECTED to bring home the bacon, and when we don't, we're considered useless. Then when we do bring home the bacon, we're oppressing women's ability to do so.

I am alone!

I had formerly thought that at least Amicus stood with me, a non-pinhead in the face of this unending barrage of morons that comprise the denizens of the Authors' Hangout. But alas, even Amicus has shown that his grasp of language and logic is lacking. Please, Amicus, repent! Please learn to string together words that actually say what you mean! I don't want to be alone with the infidels!!!
