I am curious about this one. Why put a signature line that is more than a few lines long? It seems some people have 15 - 25 lines, usually longer than their posts(often double).

Now I have had busy sig lines, with links and a small picture for awhile, but I dont think it ever was to the point that it dwarved my posts.

I know I can turn off sig lines but I like many of them, especially from the people I do not run into often or newer posters.

So those of who with really long sig lines...why?

Ok I have had my sig line longer than it is now. How long is too long? Honestly do you think mine is too long? :)

I too wonder about why some have the long sig lines. To me the best ones are short, give a message about the person and are memorable. Also, hopefully not too confusing.. which mine maybe is.

Oh well.

This isnt a judgement, I'm just wondering.

My definition of too long would be if it forces your post to be longer(vertically) on the thread when posting a one line post. Your av sets the minimum distance of each post and when a sig line pushes way past this I believe it to be too long.

To my mind 3, maybe 4 lines is enough.

Debbie, I do believe yours is too long, way too long. You could easily put one quuote beside the other and then take some of the space out between your quote and your story link.

The long sigs do screw up the flow of the threads. I think the simple sigs are the best, MacCortz being a good example.

My thoughts exactly MM... mine is right on that one line post thing... and It will never get shorter. I love my sigline

I have thought, especially when I have written a long post, that my sig line was too long! Thanks MM for being honest. I think it is better now? :)

I turned sigs off because the long ones were really getting to me. Sorry.

ditto.

I hate poetry and if you put an entire stanza down there I tended to ignore your post. Not fair. So I turned them off. Anything more than one line is too busy.
