Bottom line, the US government makes a shitload on taxes through gun sales, and the entire ATF isn’t going to be less of a government cash cow any time soon. It’s more likely the ATF will take on the abortion industry as one of its regulatory responsibilities, and funnel tax dollars from Planned Parenthood to the NRA, than that the government would end the Second Amendment. This is something I have said for a long time. I don't judge women who collect Barbie dolls, nor men who collect Hot Wheels cars. I am personally not much of a collector. I keep things because I need them or they have sentimental value.

I BUILD guitars. I do not have a collection. I have built somewhere around 70 of them, I have kept two.

I BUILD knives. I do not have a collection. I have about a dozen, some were knives my Dad built, some are my own, some are prototypes from other companies like Benchmade or Darrell Ralph.

I BUILD guns. Mostly 1911 pistols for competition. I do not have an "arsenal". I have 3 rifles, none of them semi-auto. Two of them are 1898 Mausers that my Dad and I built and customized together. I have 5 handguns. 3 I built myself, and 3 I use for competition only.

But I am not a collector. I do not judge those who collect anything. (ok, used condoms, maybe) Everyone needs a hobby. Something they can put time, focus and money into. For if we live a totally utilitarian lifestyle, we are not "Living" any more than a mule.

I like to shoot. Especially in competition. It recenters me and keeps my anger and aggression in check. NO. It is not from the big boom and the power and ego trip all the other liberal horeshit I hear. It's the mental and physical discipline and mental focus required to shoot well in a match that pushes everything thing else out of my head for a while and lets me slowly filter it back into a clear head that helps me deal with it. I get a HUGE amount of satisfaction when I do well in a match. Because it was the culmination of my shooting skills, my craftsmanship building the gun and making the ammo. I won that match.

Guns fascinate me. The people who designed some of them were absolute genius in the literal sense of the word. I think the ARs are a brilliant design, as are the AKs. Do I need one? Nope. If I shot 3-gun competitions I might but I don't. I still appreciate them. And I understand the people who own them and why.

So, collect what you want. Be proud of your collection, no matter WHAT it is. But for God's sake don't go around judging people because you don't like their hobby. There are a hell of a LOT of things in this world I don't like. But I'm not out to ban them. It's their business, not mine.
