Why do you giggle with the racists?

Pick it out of a hat. ... Make sure it's a non-politically associated, non-inflammatory hat.

Ooh. Good luck finding one of those:

Bowler hat = British racist imperialsim
Deerstalker = Rightwing conservative hunting types
Baseball hat = ghetto and white copyists
Flat cap = Northern working men's clubs

What kind of hat were you thinking of here?

A fez?

A little folded pirate hat out of paper?

LOL!!!

Why? According to your standards, he should be right.

You accused me of being racist after I refused to say that to someone - explain how is it not racist when someone actually does say it?

I'm not impressed by the fez - clearly identified with a particular racial group.

The pirate hat I like - however choosing the colour of the paper could be problematic.

I'm afraid it's racist no matter what you do. If you say it, you're racist. If you refuse to say it, you're repressed and racist, showing you truly are racist but are hiding it.

Throw a pack of construction paper into the air? Whatever lands closest to your feet.

I'm comfortable with my racistness.

That's not allowed.

See, I will say nigger, though I will not call someone a nigger, as I consider racism to be stupid.

However, because I'm not afraid of saying the word, and since I consider racism to be dumb and I'm not terrified of it, I'm a bad, bad lady.

I'm comfortable with that, too.

But suppose the paper that landed nearest was white? And the people who saw your hat didn't know about your process?

Sometimes context is everything.

This I have discovered. And it doesn't matter what you do, it will always be taken out of that context.

i think we can learn something from everyone through communication. seems to be someone may express certain degrees of racist attitude yet still have other areas of their personalities that can be worth connecting with. i don't agree with racism, but i'm not going to allow it to blind me to what else goes on. i don't take the most of what's said on here seriously, and half or more of what's typed i'm sure, hoping, isn't. you can't change a man's mind by shouting and screaming. look at that lady who sat in the bus.. ROSA PARKS. she didn't shout. she didn't scream. she simply made her stand with self-respect. if you cut off all lines of communication, it seems to me that there's no way your own views might bring about any change. if someone's intent is not just to wind others up here (which it mostly looks to be to me) but it's really about using the terms as proper insults.. if their attitudes are vile as a person altogether and their racism colours all aspects of their personalities... then i wouldn't waste my breath. i also believe each person has the right to believe what they want. change comes from within.

Yeah, I'm a racist coz I wouldn't say "sup, nigga" to someone as a joke. So, that's ok - I suppose if I must be racist, that's the kind I want to be.

WTF? I'm lost.

It's basically a trap. If you DO say "nigger" in ANY context, you're clearly a racist.

If you refuse to say it, it's because you're a PC person in denial, and a coward.

I'm not afraid of the word, I've used it on lit. Who said that?

Months ago I posted about my dumbass kid telling me to say "sup nigga" to her bf, coz he and his friends call each other that. It made me uncomfortable and I wouldn't do it.

A couple of months after that, brainiac pulled it out of nowhere - completely screwing things up as usual - and accused me of being a racist because she KNEW I had said it. Of course, after she was proven totally wrong, she backtracked like the lying cunt she is, and tried to say that she was just pointing out how stupid it was (not that I'd ever argued that point), but that she'd not called me racist for it - which of course was proven wrong again.

So she floundered around a bit - making the post in this thread that I quoted - and then did one of her "Well, if I'm wrong I'll apologize" bullshit statements, which you just know i'm holding my breath waiting to receive.

Oh, ffs, Cherry? If that girl had one more braincell it would be fucking lonely.

The point is really that no matter what stance you take on racism, someone will consider you racist.
