In this discussion thus far the groups of people X, Y, Z come to the following conclusions about why racism is so easily tolerated:


Group L, comprised of people who merrily skip through life completely unaware and indifferent to the shit racists post, feel hurt. They weakly try to turn the tables and say the names they have been called is pretty much the same as the names historically associated with racial oppression.

Group M, the wizened statesmen, point out obscure arguments that plead for understanding and for those subject to racism to step up and provide the curricula for that ever present teachable moment.


Group N, the masters of the obvious, complain that we're all just picking on one person.

Group O, the people who know that the teachable moment is a load of crap, explain to Group Y that they aren't responsible for educating idiots incapable of change.

The thread ended up being the usual crew for these type of debates. I respect most of those that took the time to post thoughts on the subject matter.

Of course a key segment of the lit population stayed clear of the thread. That would be the ones that actually do chat it up with the racists.
