Why do you giggle with the racists?

But that would mean any white person with a blue collar could be a redneck. I wouldn't go that far.

I know plenty of construction workers who are smart, nice guys.

Most blue collar jobs these days are indoors.

Where did you get the idea that rednecks are stupid?

If you have a hereditary northern European skin type that doesn't tan, exposure to the sun turns it red.

Most rednecks are smart nice guys, except for the women, who are smart and nice, but not guys.

If there is any question as to who is and isn't a redneck, google "you may be a redneck"

Don't tempt me.

Really, though, not until they start shooting, raping and killing us off our land.

Does it have to be systematic? Cause the first two happen often enough that its of concern. And the last is in its planning stages by some of the Hispanic groups in the form of taking back the southwest for Mexico.

Why isn't all racism the same?

Let's say there are two kids on a playground. One kid is much bigger than the other. The big kid keeps slapping the little kid in the head and calling him...oh, let's say a "ratfink". He does this over and over again. After a while the little kid says "Hey, cut it out, poopyhead."

Are you comfortable claiming that both kids are equally guilty of calling names?

If you didn't keep telling other people what they think, fewer people might think you're a moron.

Perhaps that'd be so but it does make a few points. There is little to be gained by feeling bad about historical events we had no part in other than making sure it isn't repeated.

Actually, he does not speak in support of black on white violence in Africa, he says that he does not care if it occurs.

If ,in your opinion, that makes him a racist, then you have, in fact, accepted Kyle's original proposition that those who are willing to overlook racism are complicit in it.
Dude, the problem is that was probably the STUPIDEST title I ever wrote. It left my entire thread wide open for being taken way out of context.

I should have started off with "people are whining about native Africans taking their land back from those who killed their ancestors for it".

A lot of weak minds who can't string but a few words together saw that as "all whites deserve to die" and not "those who invaded Africa are getting kicked the hell out, tough shit for them". I had no idea how many weak minds there were, and there's no way I'll try to say I used good taste in wording that thread.

that's a great way to put it.

Considering the number of overlooked hispanics who come here LEGALLY, a large portion of whom are horrified at the "take over America" crowd, I'd say the only honorable course of action is still a whole lot of surgical strikes by the INS.

The way to deal away with them is simple, and the laws are on the books. They're just not being enforced.

No I wasn't defending racist, if she said that it is a bold face lie. What started it was I posted on one of KS threads. I have been back to Lit about three months and stick to the fluffy threads, that is what I like about Lit and had not seen his racist stuff and didn't know. Lesson learned, I do now.

What pissed her off and led to all the redneck comments to me (not all the ones she has made to others) was that I posted a picture that asked KS if was ready for his birthday spanking, when he said yes I said I was sure she would be along to give it to him in his birthday thread.

Now, now liar. You went in the KS birthday and wished him a happy birthday and specifically mentioned my name hoping it would piss me off that you are friends with someone who expresses the desire to kill niggers. You yourself even said it: I am sure this will really piss Ladyf off or Ladyf will be along soon and will be mad, ha ha to paraphrase because I don't have the time to look it up. But it is there for you and everyone else to see. And that is why you are a pathetic redneck, because you were very proud to stand by your man.

Well, if you're going to stick with a literal definition that involves people with necks that are indeed physically red, then we'll have to set up a separate branch of discussion.

And SPF 30 sunscreen can usually help with that red thing.

Where's the thread? I want to look for myself.

I always got the impression that was a strictly urban term. Redneck carries connotations of rural areas, to me anyway.

I've always understood the origin of redneck as being in reference to farmers who get red necks from working in the sun.

No idea, the thread starter is a person I don't know. The title was something like, "The obligatory KS birthday thread" or something like that.

If you find it, you will clearly see that she brought up my in reference to my calling her out the day before, and when she claimed ignorance about KS I linked her to "kill niggers" and "monkey in cages" post.

And the next day she posted in the KS thread and brough me up.

ETA link. And you will so very clearly that JulianAngel is a bald-faced rednecked liar when she claims I yelled at her for posting a picture in that thread.

Yeah and if they want to stay let em sign up for military service since we are stretched so thin. *nods*

I know, but that's the origin of the word. Beyond that, its a state of mind.

Among Rednecks, the lable is a source of pride, sort of like gang colors.

I don't know the history behind that post, but surely you can't think that calling someone a redneck is the same as being racist?

That's the new tactic some white people use to paint themselves as the victim. It's a curious strategy and not very productive, if you ask me.

I know that in Ireland and Aus it tends to be used for country bumpkin types by city dwellers. Much like Dubliners use culchies.

He may or may not be correct in his supposition, but it remains a supposition, and when you tell someone that you know what they think, it's pretty much a guarantee that they aren't going to pay much attention to what you have to say afterwards.

Well said Queenie. When so many of the lit populace chats merrily with a racist/bigot, they are essentially saying "I see your racism and I just don't care enough about it, so I'm going to chat with you about my day". People say "oh I would never say those things! Racism is wrong". But that sounds hollow when in the next thread you'll chat with those racists.

Yep - and I wouldn't want to share a street with these people, nevermind a conversation. I don't want that hate in my life, and to condone racism is as bad as to perpetrate it. I don't want those people either.

I'm speaking in general terms (much as I usually do) since I don't really give a shit about other people's personal beefs.

I get it. So, is there some sort of grassroots movement to fight against the term being co-opted for negative usage?

Retrieval is a self confessed neo nazi. You do know that, right?

Why would I? I don't read everything on this board. And even idiots like that (neo-nazis) can say something with value if you glean out the bullshit of their reasoning for saying it.
