Why do women never make the first move on a guy?

You guys are obviously gonna be somewhat surprised to learn of the existence of lesbians.

Because they fear that she might get the same savage rejection treatment that women give to men all the time :D

Savage? damn. I've never been savage towards Men.

Matter of Fact....I PROPOSED MARRIAGE TO MY HUSBAND at a JIM'S Restaurant in Austin, Tx, back in 1981.

We married in '82 and just celebrated our 35th anniversary.

....the hash browns rocked that morning as much as our marriage has rocked all these years.

;)

I think LJ's definition of 'never' is a little different from the common usage of the term.

Interesting point you bring up here. In a lesbian courtship, who makes the first move?

Should be fun to watch since it's the male's job to make the first move and in a lesbian situation THERE'S NO MALES :D :D :D :D :D :D

... and yet lesbian relationships exist in their tens of thousands, if not millions. Hmmmm ... what could this possibly mean?

Can't answer the question, can you? When it's two women, whose role is it to make the first move? Who asks who out first?

I don't know where you get this never business...

I make the first move on men all the time, always have.
I also like to be on top :D

Oh, your question was serious?
Whoever wants to. Just like in hetero and every other sort of relationship. Out here in the real world, we stopped confirming to 1950s gender norms regarding dating (and most other things) quite some time ago.

I just realised that even asking that question implies you don't know any lesbian women - is that right? Genuine question ... do people actually go through their lives without knowing anyone who's not heterosexual?

Nah, in hetero relationships women have made it the man's role to go first.

I quickly learned that Seattle men are far different from any other I’ve encountered: shy, timid and seemingly incapable of striking up a conversation, let alone offering to buy a female a drink. The Seattle males’ inability to successfully merge with their female counterparts reminds me of the colossal cluster that is I-5 onramps. Much like a Seattleite merging onto a freeway, our men’s apprehensive tendencies leave them incapable of finding either the open lane or the open bar stool.

Like a Seattleite’s driving, which is among the worst according to two years of Allstate claims data, Seattle men are unable to properly insert themselves, thanks to a “no, you go first” mindset, creating a plethora of blundering crash-and-burn scenarios.

Men who don't approach women are cowards

and

Lads! Britain needs you to do your duty and get flirting

I'm sorry but I don't ask lesbians how they got together. I don't pry into people's lives like that.

Things might be more equal now, but during my youth, it was almost unheard of for a girl or woman to make the first move, except when the guy was a rock star. I always felt it was a matter of girls and women having extremely high standards, so high that hardly anybody could meet them. :(

I wrote an essay about Ann Landers and Dear Abby, saying they were largely responsible for the inequality. I still believe this is so, although neither of them is around any more.

"Why do women never make the first move on a guy?"

Didn't you pretty much ask this question in your opening post?

Open your eyes...men are women and women are men.

Broaden your scope for better understanding. k.
