Why do we need the police anymore? They're the criminals now.

We should have the army people reserve do the police work and fire all the officers.

I am more inclined to point a finger @ police brass for not doing their job by insuring their officers adhere to the rules and are disciplined if they don't.

One thing I cannot understand is why the American people allow their police departments to hire former military soldiers.

Military people are trained to aggressively kill and destroy. Police officers are trained to defend, protect and serve.

Seems to me these are two veryyyy different mindsets.

Factor in all the shit former active duty soldiers have experienced and I really hate to say it...but psychologically speaking many former soldiers who participated in actual combat situations are damaged.

Are these the people we want patrolling and protecting our neighborhoods?

I greatly appreciate younger citizens who volunteer to serve our country and insure we maintain the freedom we friggin love (whats left of it).

Soldiers who participated in rescue missions like this are aces and deserve all the accolades they receive...but they should be ineligible to become police officers and patrol civilian american neighborhoods after they complete their military service.

Of course I have no data to support my assertions, I doubt the governemnt would be interested in tracking data to determine if former military people turned police officers have higher instances of brutality or other civilian complaints than officers with no prior military training.

To me it makes sense to hire a raw American without any prior training in dealing with weapons and stressful situations, and train him or her from scratch. Hiring former military who were trained to kill, and attempting to retrain them to protect and serve is kind of iffy. Once a soldier has been trained to be aggressive it is difficult for him or her to ignore that instinct, particularly in stressful situations.

You hate to say it?.... I don't know ...you seemed pretty eager to spew your bigotry.

I can think of a lot of classes of people who are much less likely to commit acts of violence than ex-soldiers.

In the coming collapse caused by the loss of value in currency and the worthlessness of future welfare check just be glad those soldiers will probably allow pukes like you to live.

You know, sometimes in revolutions, soldiers get killed, along with their families. En masse. That tends to happen with armed populaces.

IOW if they get out of hand, we may not allow pukes like you to live.

This is all necessary to prevent terrorism and protect us from Al-Qaeda.

The cops always get acquitted in court.

Of course. Other cops will almost always cover their partners' asses. The Drew Peterson case in suburban Chicago is a good example. Three cops were on the coroner's jury, and they claimed Peterson's wife drowned in an empty bathtub.

In the Kelly Thomas case, the entire murderous assault was videotaped, so the cops couldn't deny anything.

That's what they said about the Rodney King case.
