Why Do Dumb People Breed?

I've noticed that the dumbest people in the world are breeding more and more lately. I work in the Infant bedding department in my Toys R Us, and I have seen in the past week the dumbest people in creation comming in for cribs and bassinets. One man insisted that he could use a nassinet untill it was time for the toddler bed. One woman demanded that she get a free mattress with her crib because the crib was the display modle when it clearly said on the ticket (that I made myself) that the Mattress was not included....

Why are people so dumb?

Becuase you are in retail! You see the worst that society has to offer. The smart people dont usually to to the sales clerks unless they really need help. They ask one or two questions and are on their way. The others that you mention stand out like a soar thumb.

The only thing I can suggest is to hang out at your competitors store and when these very same people come up to you to ask you for help give them bad advice. Tell them what they are looking for is in a different isle across the store. Or better yet refuse to help them with out explaining why? I love that one the best. These people are smart enough to know you are supposed to help them, but dumb enough to not know you dont work in this store. If you dont believe me just try this. It worked very time. I was in no mood to be kind and help this jerk and they complained to the store manager that I refused to help them.

I would have loved to be their when the manager tried to tell them that no one worked here by that name or description. Its nasty but for some of them you just got to do it.

I do that all the time... like, I'll be shopping in a store that I used to work in, and the coustomers remember me as working there and demand help and I just walk away from them. It's the best thing to do

They should have charged her double....for the real thing.

Mig...so all people collecting welfare are dumb? last I checked only around 5 million received TANF payments last year (Seems to me there are a lot more idiots than that) and a large segment of those were children. Guess that makes them dumb. Some recipients were elderly and some were unable to work due to physical or mental disabilities...dumb too. 98% of families receiving government aid have 2 children or less...that sort of screws up the "spittin out kids to get more money" argument I think.

Generalizing is dumb. I happen to agree with those who say it is because you work retail...and the only ones that you will have the most contact with are those that have trouble assisting themselves. In other words..if you only deal with the stupid then you are apt to believe everyone is stupid.

I think it's a number of reasons. Breeding is enjoyable, even more so if you don't care about the results of your activity, and if you're really stupid, you don't think about consequences anyway. I think the demise of the welfare state may impact this behavior, but welfare has certainly been one historical reason to breed; more kids = more money, not less disposable income as with the working world. Perhaps it's evolutions way of separating the species...

Historically the "welfare state" is a relatively new concept. Breeding is natural no matter the income levels involved. The size of families has dropped for a variety of reasons. In the past people had many children because birth control was taboo, because higher rates of mortality "thinned the herd", because more hands made working the farms easier..etc.

Maybe we should administer income and intelligence tests and only allow those "qualified" to reproduce.

I'm with you. There's a new breed of recipients that are always kept out these arguments. This recipient is the dislocated professional. He is white in his 40s, has a wife, kids, mortgage and a degree. And since he was formerly employed, he has paid taxes which contribute to the system. He's not a moocher. Nor is the welfare recipient who is less educated. She is required to work and there are time caps on assistance. In Michigan it's two years and you're on your own.


People should do a little homework instead relying solely on their politicians and the media. Get the facts straight. More kids doesn't equate to more money. It equals fewer resources divided among many. After three the equation is the same. A stipient doesn't even take in account feminine hygiene products nor phone service so an employer can call you. The average mother on assistance has 1.2 children and has a work history. She's usually educated as well. The average length on welfare is five years. That ain't a lifetime by any stretch.

Social Security is a form of welfare, so provided you live long enough you, you join the ranks among the stupid. Medicare, veteran benefits are all state funded programs.

In Michigan, more whites than blacks are on welfare. There simply are no jobs in the towns where tourism or the military have dried up in rural areas.

Nothing reflects stupidity like sweeping generalizations and stereotypes.
