Age does not necessarily equal wisdom. In fact, the natural idealism that is characteristic of teens and young adults is often devoid in these political threads which often resemble a futile effort in attrition.

6000 words arguments directed at people just as stubborn as the poster. Often these posts are filled with "Facts" that are as subjective as the opinions themselves and the reason for the arguement isn't to bring about greater understanding but to attack the beliefs of someone else.

Nope, more 16-22 year olds should engage in politics. It would inject a much needed conscience into these debates as well as the potential for change. Most of the political threads on lit are an exercise in contention and not much more.
