Why are vampires so sexy?

Hey all. I decided to post this because I'm thinking about writing a vampy BDSM story after I finish the one I'm currently working on, and I wanted to gather some ideas. I don't know about everyone else, but I've always found the vampire mythos incredible arousing. I'm not into blood play in real life, but there is just something about vampires that really gets to me. It's always been that way, ever since I saw the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie at a birthday party when I was 10 and was introduced to the world of vampires (Never actually seen the show. I'm more into film vampires. David Bowie and Gary Oldman are my faves). For me, I suppose its the thought of being "taken" so thoroughly. Vamps are almost always depicted as incredibly strong, so they could do whatever they want to you physically, and a lot of the time they are depicted as able to sort of hypnotize you and bend you to their will, so maybe you won't even want to fight back. Lastly of course, there is the actual act of taking blood, which I see in terms of someone giving up a part of themselves (willingly or no) to make another being stronger. All of this combines with the mystique of a creature who was once human but is now something else. Something who is immortal and powerful, at the cost of having to take from others in order to survive. That vulnerability also gets to me.

Anyway, in case you couldn't tell I think that the vampire is an incredibly compelling archetype, and I was wondering if any of you out there felt the same way. What appeals to you about the vampire? What would you like to see in a vampiric BDSM story? I'd be particularly interested in hearing from any Doms. I always think about being on the receiving end of a vampire, but is there something compelling in vamps to those of the dominant bent?

for me its the power... the seemingly effortless way they hold thier power over another. and the fact that they usually look sexy as hell. ugly vampires just dont do it for me.

I completely agree. I am so not into Blood play in real life but Vamps give off this aura of sex, lust, love and even hate at the same time..Its extreme, I so Loved watching Buffy when it was on and Spike was my all time fave Buffy Vamp..

Also, I dont know how you feel about Romance Novels.. but Theresa Mediros.. rights a great series about Vamps..(very good stuff).

Love this Video.. I have it on my myspace page.. its great. :rose:
Great Spuffy Video!

they have the good-looks and strength of youth, but the wisdom and experience of old age.. not to mention, vampires seem to be kind of snobby and only turn people who are already good-looking.. it's like an exclusive club for beautiful people..

Vamps easily lend themselves to the D/s edge power vibe. They are seductive and beautiful. This subject is one of my fav themes for movies and books though I despise anything with a Dracula type of flavor. The internal conflict of the vamp MUST be presented for me to care.

Because they are!

first and foremost, the power and control.
there are echos of incubus/sucubus
there are the clothes, the fabrics of the vampire film world.
the blood and fear both powerful aphrodisiacs to me
the sex is usually, pretty heady stuff
the anti religion part appeals, i like sex on hallowed ground, its hot
goth as a fashion, ive always adored

a victim is surely in subspace no?

I sooo agree to that! :D I love(d) Spike... Many might not agree, but I find him kinda hot

But yea... It's the power and strength a vampire holds over it's victim. And the fact that they are usually hot :p

I used to want to be a vampire. I love evil things.

i agree with pandora.

There is something very primal about it for me...just the act of being bitten. In truth, it is the easiest way to make me give up all resistance.

As silly as it sounds, I think the whole idea of biting the neck is a big turn-on about vampires. If you saw Underworld, didn't you think the guy who got bit by Kate Beckinsale was one lucky SOB? :) Hell, in her outfit she could make me a vampire any day!

Vampires are just so dark. Their whole ethos is about domination so it's little wonder that us subs find them attractive. Add into that the power of seduction, brooding good looks, eternal torment, not to mention that they mark you by biting your neck, owning you and blood play.

No no no – I don't find vampires attractive at all *heads off for a cold shower*.

Yummm..

I think vampires are hot, they way the dress so dark and myterious hmmmmm.
Yeah and the biting is just a kewl addon to the vampire, making you his by taking your blood................

He is the perfect master

It is the allure, than he can take you out of your world and make you part of his. It creates that wonderful internal struggle. Part of you wants to go, but part of you doesn't. You know you will break to him but you fight it because it's crossing a line that can't be crossed back. It is the perfect domination.

From the time I was about 3 years old, when I thought the shadows next to the telephone pole outside was a vampire waiting to come in... and yes... I did "invite" him in... I've been in love with vampires. The power they hold over people.. the sexuality, the passion... I am enthralled.. I love being bitten and both Master and my husband have bitten just to the point of breaking the skin but havent passed that point because of infections.. (human mouths are disgusting)..

With one gaze, the Vampire shows his dominance over his prey, his sub.. makes me want to just offer my neck in submission every time

another great series is the Anita Blake series ... Jean-Claude makes me wet... they're by Laurell K Hamilton.. Her main character is just now exploring her BDSM side...

All of a quivver

whenever I read Vamp stories, or watch anything with Vamps in it (especially Queen of the damned) I am always compelled by the manerisms.

Its the almost Historical way that they hold themselves and how the men seem to exude an almost Earl like quality about them.

The eyes are next. So beautiful. They look at you and through you all at the same time- even in stories the authors can still capture that elusiveness about their eyes.

And another point- Vamp's always seem to be free but completly unavaliable. The thought of being near to one, having the person touch you, or more, seems to give the impression that you are somehow special, yet you know that once they are finished with you, they will move on- the ultimate bad boy i guess!!! all that danger locked up in suchba sexy and forbidden package!

and I LOVE being bitten- and the Vamp bite is a manifestation of that.

Did y'all ever notice how much D/s was in the Buffy or Angel television shows???

Seriously.

Back when Buffy and Spike started boffing and breaking down buildings while doing so, I thought that shit was NUTS! I mean this wasn't our sweet little Buffy and at that time, I thought sex and violence just didn't go together. Now, well, um, wow! I have a whole different view!

I am attracted to the power and the way that they can compel you against your will to succumb thoroughly. Plus they are also quite attractive especially the male vamps, I love their long flowing hair, their pseudo feminine tendencies, the way they just satiate all desires when ever the need arises. To me I find they just exude eroticism and they place you in a mood where you want to be taken.

Vampires are so sexy cos they suck, and they look good doing it! Anybody that can get allll into your body with just a bite on the neck? Wow. Oh, lets not forget that basic black. Totally piques your interest! ;)

I love to write about Vampires because they are timeless. You can throw so much history into the story. My favorite Vampire books are Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Her vampires are sensual in act of taking blood.

I felt their were definitely more dominant vampires in her stories. A dominate Vampire would probably toy more with his victims, keeping them alive long enough to grow bored with them.

My vampires tend to be searching for the soul of their lost mortal love.

I absolutley adored Angel when he was on the television, very sexy. He can bite me anyday. ;)
I love to read Vampire books too, i think as a few others have said its the power they hold over you.

I liked Angel at first. When it became apparent he'd rather save the world than being with Buffy, I liked him less. Each time he got with another woman, I liked him less. He wasn't honest with himself about his relationships at all.

Spike I liked more because he was not giving up on love no matter how much it hurt.

They tried to tell us Angel was the "better man" but I never bought that.

The last season of Angel I felt they could have used the character of Spike quite deliciously. He now had a soul. He was the ONLY one who hadn't sold out to Wolfram and Hart. It would have been beyond amusing for him to be the "conscious" of the group.

*sigh*

Too bad the writers had other visions. The best part of the show that season for me was the blue haired evil version of Fred.
