Why are the requests in Looking for a story so odd?

Sometimes I look in the forum for Looking for a Story. Although I have written hundreds of stories for Literotica, very few are anywhere close to the stories being sought.

Is it me? Or are some of the requests just weird?

Rule 34. The flip side of that coin is that most everybody else’s desires are weird.

But, that said, yes.

Puffins are one type of bird, penguins another. Literotica appeals to the hummingbird as well as the eagle, and don't forget the turkey.

They're probably loosely and indirectly correlated. If you've made hundreds of stories available, it would stand to reason that they aren't looking for them because they already have access to them.

From what I've seen they're mostly looking for very niche scenarios, which they can't find otherwise.

Because ordinary stories are easy to find.

That's the right answer. People aren't going to post these requests for ordinary stories because they're not hard to find given the Site's search functions. The weird ones are harder to find and that's why people post questions about them.

And some stuff, nobody even thinks to look for. Like my Penis Fish story. Which, by the way, I have MelissaBaby to thank for, because she posted a link to the real-life story that inspired my twisted story.

I do often find myself thinking that the requested story would really be lame, but I just let it go.

Could it be possible that some authors of weird stories are trying to get more eyes on them? Inquiring minds and all that. :D

Sure. I don't see the story later identified that often, though. Although it's good to see testimonials on the main feedback page, often those look like the author drumming up reads with an alt too.

I sometimes look at the "looking for" hoping to see some nifty plotline I hadn't seen before, but mostly like look juvenile and dumb.

Sometimes you're able to help requesting readers with recommendations.

For example last week somebody was requesting stories that involve evil cheating women with no morals or scruples who win in the end, and by luck I had written several such stories so was able to recommend them to the requestor.

I also write stories that are unusual, for example my Valentine's Day story this year was about a 7 foot 1 girl and a 4 foot 11 guy, not something that comes up every day.

But for really weird fetishes or highly specific scenarios, you have to wonder why they don't write and post the stories themselves if this is what they want to read about. For example, if somebody wanted to read about gay aliens from the planet Uranus visiting Australia in the 1970s there probably wouldn't be such a story on Literotica. So why not write it themselves?

That's the right call, Keith! I, too, see some requests and my response is . . . well, hmmm. I wouldn't look for that.

But that's part of the beauty of a Site like this one. People are free to explore their own fantasies, however odd they are.

Some of the requests do make me roll my eyes, but then I try to use the perspective of maybe some people would roll their eyes at something I wrote.

There are times some of the non con BTB stories being described I want to reply maybe you can't find it because it was banned and never should have been here, but why bother?

But here's one observation I have about looking for a story forum.

I bet all of us go there and click on threads wondering if they're looking for one of ours...go ahead, you do it, admit it.:D

I do look to see if they are looking for one of mine, or if general requests, whether one of mine would fit.

But they rarely do.

On the other hand, I can find plot bunnies there, not that I need any more.

In the time since that forum started only once was it my story they were looking for and I didn't even know it, they mentioned older woman, younger guy, it was winter and one line they remembered the woman saying. I didn't remember that line, but someone came forward with a link to the story and it was mine I was like "I wrote that line?" Ugh

That's probably the only reason I read that forum, and it usually doesn't take any time at all for me to say, "Nope, not mine."
