It was a total ABOMINATION he didn't recieve a nod for playing Gollum. The reason for that is simple-The actor wasn't "actually" in the movie. It's a HUGE ripoff, but, I can see that as the only reason for his not getting a nod. Otherwise, he would be a front-runner.
