How many people here actually participate in erotica, either reading or writing? Do you have special someone to share it with? Was your partner interested? Has it played a role in your intimate life?

I find it incredibly arousing to write erotica and was thrilled to find this website with erotica literature. The process of focusing on your thoughts and organizing them and putting them into words really intensifies the arousal for me. My wife reads a LOT, but has a mental block with doing any kind of creative writing herself. I read a moderate amount, and enjoy writing erotic stories. It’s been an fun medium to explore and share fantasies. I haven't yet submitted any stories here, though my wife has offered to proof read.

Love reading...currently looking for a story with a lot of teasing in it. Having problems finding one...

I love erotica also...I wish Lit had a better system for catagorizing their stories.

I discovered Lit for the stories but stayed for the boards.

I haven't yet worked up the nerve to write my own erotica. I haven't done any creative writing since the early 1990's; most of the writing I've done since then (and not recently) has been academic stuff. I'd likely share anything I wrote with my husband.

If I decided to write something for Lit, I'd probably create an alt. I wouldn't want my stories or an AmPics thread to be tied to this username.

I haven't read a story in ages.

I do write but I'm not interested in posting online. Most of what I write is not erotica, but I have a few short stories.

I write erotica and have some posted at Lit. My husband shows no interest in reading what I write. I also enjoy reading it, but I'm pretty picky about what I like.

I've only written one piece. It was situational....as a gift for a SO.

I don't read that much either. I've got some friends that write and I'll usually read their stories...for one friend I edit his stories...occassionally someone will recommend a story and I'll read it...but considering Lit is known for its stories I don't read much at all.

I read more than I write, and only write for my husband at this time. While I don't put names in them (just in case), they are of us and are our way of exploring new ideas and therefore very personal. I'd only post them if he gave the ok.

Alyx and I both write, but not erotica, although some of our stories do have sex in them from time to time, they are more of the fade to black variety.

As to reading erotica, most of it I find unappealing and badly written. I prefer a story to have a plot and the sex is incidental to the plot. That seems to go against the grain of most writers of what you find on lit.

I don't mind the occasional romp through erotic writing, but I am tired of reading about impossible situations and infantile statements like;

"He thrust his steamy man-meat into her quivering honey pot."

I'm sorry, but this isn't erotic, it's funny and sounds like a recipe for something really awful.

edited to add:

You didn't include a "I write, but not erotica" to the poll so I didn't vote.

I think that I might get a few rocks tossed at me here, but what the heck (got my hard hat on). Now not all can be writers, or some of us poor boneheads that fell threw the system when in school just to get you threw it's tough for them, as me. But many years ago I realized that my mind was warped for erotic thoughts. Now why let those go to waste. And with some evening classes at a local college, and a few bucks later, I realized with the coming of the computer, that this was now easer to do, than not to. In my warped mind I had ideas that wanted to come out, and with some coaxing it started, couple of pages here, and there, word perfect was my happy place at that time, and it helped my mind get things to paper easy, and it had spell checker. Wow, no more looking up things. The poor teacher in that class never knew what I was coming in with, the first weeks home work was about how 2 people that got it on, but I had a knack for describing how it was, and what the feelings were to those ideas on paper. Teacher just looked at me the following week and said, “Well you sure you haven’t done this before?” and with that handed back the papers, and on that silly sheet was “PHEW…that was very descriptive”, and it went on from there, that little bit of software was my monster, and then this moron that just got threw school, got schooled. And by typing and watching the screen the letters flowed. The final was almost 30 pages of just pure lust, and it flowed from my fingers.

Now do I like to write, YES! But it seems to me in here at Lit that there a bit harsh on just about anything. And ya that’s probably why I haven’t submitted to here, I do a lot of custom ones for ladies out there wanting something, that they can’t get else where. I research it, and make sure it’s right to the T, then send them, it’s fun, it’s erotic, and heck it’s almost a pleasure doing it. The whole thing is I get long winded, and I know my two cents must be up by now so I will take back to the halls and wander a bit, but will check back in from time to time.

Nice to see a thread where there is not rock throwing. (But I’ll still keep the hard hat on). ;)

I feel a little self conscious about posting my stories here as well;) Writing about things that turn yourself on is so personal. There's also a fuzzy limit about what's too tame and what's too far. I can imagine people thinking either What a novice/prude/wuss! or Gross! He gets turned on by that!?

I sorta feel like a fish out of water here, unlike the rest of you I do post stories to literotica. :catroar:

Though ummm, really, there is no reason to listen to the people who bad mouth you. You don't know who they are, they don't know you and hey most likely they spewed cum all over the place a few times while reading your story they are bad mouthing you about anyway. ;)

No seriously I am pretty sure the so called trolls are male, and of course the best way to get a response of hate out of someone is to do a story that gets their rocks off hard and fast, they feel guilty about it afterwards and bad mouth you for doing that.

Besides, judging by the writing ability shown in the messages I get from said trolls, they are still cumming when they send it. Really hard to take someone serious when their message is 'U sck so bd' or perhaps my personal favorite.

"And they both got AIDS and died. The end."

I got two like it when I first posted Photo Shoot. :cattail: Still brings a giggle when I think about it. :nana:

Hmm... So here is a new one, it's not the people that grade it that heckle you; it's the ones that read it. Hmmm...That is strange, as most of what I do takes time for a build up, I have seen comments on post that it took to long to get to the good part. Well, isn't that the way life it, it's not *slam bam thank you mam* but a lot to seem to think that way, and us males that don't do it get cast as buttheads like those. This is a newer way to look at things.
I have been in SRP area, and figured I would give it a go, but there as well as other places I find that some are out Standish. Like who is this whack job. There are a lot that do help, and try but they have many to many threads going at once. I like to have fun in rooms and in posts, hey I can take a few pokes at me, I will admit to a lot of things that guys do. But now I see that you to have a problem with readers. Well I am glad then that this is out, I wouldn’t mind other knowing it was I writing. Heck they probably know I’m a nut case anyways…LOL.

I love to read some of the well written ones! Don't really write anything though, just a place for me to explore things I like that I don't really like to talk about with anyone else.

I read and write stories. My stories are more of the 'Romantica' genre, some don't have a sex scene some do. I think my style is tame for Lit, or more character and emotion driven instead of being a 'stroke story' - there's a place for both styles, many styles actually.

I had never written before 2004, save business and school requirements. One day an idea came into my mind and I wrote my first story in about an hour and a half. I was shocked to be honest. I sent it to a friend who thought it was great and sent it to an author friend of their's who sent me a note of encouragement and expressed how nicely I captured certain emotions.

I had so many ideas flowing thru my mind and was off to the races. I'm still kind of surprized by it all. I hit a slump for a long time but have recently figured out some of my blocks. It feels good to get a few words written.

I didn't vote as I don't have a SO, but most of my stories are here at Lit.

And Cathleen when you first posted did you find it a bit chilly?? I don't say everyone is that way, but maybe I just got the wrong feeling is all I am saying. I would, and have no problem, but for first time posting it's like I don't have on my hard hat and rocks keep fining my head.

I'm still a new writer here, I've written before but the stories on here were my first foray into erotica - And because of that I think I really let rip lol.

I've visited Lit for years and decided to have a go at writing them myself. I think my stories were near the knuckle but I had fun with the characters and how far I could take them. The stories still aren't finished but I have so many different ideas now, its taking time to get them down in print.

I think there are some really talented writers here and I have my favourites. :)

I write, even have some published, and SO can read or not, whatever he prefers.

Not at all, barber. I was very excited and told everyone it had been accepted and it was received well, much to my surprise. It earned the H and I was thrilled.

A lot of friends here read it because I announced it was up and honestly I felt they were 'just being nice'. For that reason I didn't 'advertise' any new stories (I keep a link in my sig line only), I wanted to find out if they were 'just being nice'.

I'm grateful that my stories have been well received for the most part. I've received a couple of negative comments but truthfully I agreed with reader.

When I began to use an editor I found my writing improved. I re-read a few early stories and saw many ways I could make it better, that made me happy. I highly recommend contacting one of the volunteer editors here, very many of them are editors by profession so it can't get much better than that! Take a look at the Editor's Board, there is good info to be gained.

Oh yes what she said. :cathappy:

No seriously an editor really helps, like in my case once I finish it I don't want to go back over it and look for errors so I send it off to my own personal editor, I found him through the editor's forum though he has told me recently that he isn't taking on any more authors. I am sorry about that, takes a while to wade through the drivel I send him I guess.

Just post a thread in the editor's forum and wait a couple days, at least one person will pop in with I'll do it, well most likely they will send an IM. I had two pop in though the second never panned out. I rather think she is the lucky one. ;)

Oh and based off the negative feedback I receive and the overall score of the story they are commenting on, they don't vote.

Oh and my first story actually netted me alot of positive and helpful feedback, granted it was a first time story and those seem to be the safest to do, but not chilly. I even got alot of email feedbacks describing how hot i made him reading it and well let's just say someone else enjoyed those emails besides me.

I am new and have submitted two stories to date, with a third pending. I am pretty overwhelmed with the reception they have received and it has been a very affirming experience to date.

I have to thank you folks in here, it kind of gives me something to aim at now. I just wish I had found a thread like this where someone actualy said something that I needed. I am a bit cinical about how it is run arround here, but at least I got some info now. Thanks and maybe I'll just send in a couple just to see if can make the grade.

And again thanks.

You cannot please everyone and you'll find there is always someone that wants you to turn left when you turned right.

Frankly I look at the whole review/comment process with a cynical eye. They are nice at times, but we don't write for reviews. I'd don't want to even discuss some of the irate comments I've seen, but for every one bad comment, there are hundreds of good ones.

(Shrugs) It all evens out in the end if you write to improve your skills and not to make some anonymous reader happy.
