Ok, here's the deal. Let's pretend.

There is a person who decides to build a library. Not just any library but one for the future. This library will be sealed and preserved against a future need.

Now this person wants to make sure that every book that might be needed is there. To do that, he is inviting everyone to select three books that they feel should be in it. These must be books that are felt to be very inportant.

If you were one of the people, which books would you choose?

Remember, only three. And they may be needed to rebuild a world.

JOY OF SEX....

JOY OF COOKING....

AND WEBSTER'S DICTIONARY... :D

1. Outdoor survival guide to edible plants

2. All the uses of Duct Tape

3. Not a book - but the "Declaration of Independence" "Bill of Rights" "US Constitution" (edited to get out all the silly stuff)

If you're going with the Christian Bible, you need to go with the other religions too. I was raised Christain and i wouldn't even put that in there at all. To create a whole new world i don't think carrying over any current major religions (well...maybe Buddaism) would be a good idea. A lot of them are not tolerant of other ideas and were created in wholey different situations than today, let alone an instance where the would would need rebuilding. I think it'd be better to let anyone rebuilding the world to create a belief system modled after what they are facing. It would allow them to better survive. Besides, all religions are basically the same thing in thoery. It's like ice cream, there are a million different flavors but it's still ice cream.

I agree on the religion point. They should have a choice. However, if you take out the religious part, there are quite a few good points on survival in the bible also. But that may be true of other bibles as well. I've never read the koran, the zen buddhist ideas or others but if one religion is included then all must be to be fair.

I believe a text on basic agriculture, a text on basic medicine including midwifing, a text on basic crafts such as making shoes and weaving and building.

A complete Survival manual.

An in-depth analysis book of all the Major World religions

An SAT prep book with all the questions and answers.

Why: You need to survive, obviously. I think the World religions give us enough history to feel comfortable and stories about how we should treat eachother, and the SAT book will be filled with questions and answers for general knowledge information.

Plus, I'd see who else was bringing what. *grin*
